I so hope that playing with planets won't require the same resources as POS. I am sure I have millions of units of "Soil" out in 0.0 from when NPC's used to give out all kinds of junk years ago.
Or are we all just waiting for the next Blog about it? : \

That would be pretty clever of ccp to use the current trade goods in some fashion for PI. Such as soil for use in biodomes on an inhospitible world to make it more self sufficient and hence provide moar profits due to less need to import supplies to keep it running at optimal effeciency.

Who cares about soil? What I want to know is if we will be able to use slaves and slaver hounds.
And janitors, to clean up after the slaver hounds.

Well, instead of getting trade goods from NPC's, we could harvest oxygen, mine enriched uranium, set up factories for robotics, etc.
Or, we could sick slaver hounds loose on runaway slaves

what i want to know is if 1 planet = 1 colony (or one player to control it) or if there are going to be a lot of different grids on a planet that players can claim/buy to set up on

I think you're missing the potential for whining from players who forget to supply their desert world spice-mining bases with quafe and log on a week later to discover all the colonists have died of thirst.

If I can get out of my pod and race around in my Gallente luxury car while shooting small arms into the air and drink liqueur spirits, then I will leave my pod, otherwise I won't bother.
This is typical. You go on this forum and start reading what people write, finding what they have written to be banal or amusing, never realizing until it is too late that your reading a signature. |

From things said in the last fanfest, its looks like 1player=1 city or 1 region in the planet. If you want more wild speculations, the planet is divided by the max n. of pos that you can place around it (so n. of moons).

Well, I hope it wont be corp/alliance only. The solo players needs to get a taste too.
And.. how will this work? Will it be planetary orbit only , or will we be able to land and see the surface?

Try this:
5 freighters of soil 2 freighters of water 1 freighter of fertilizer 1 freighter filled in equal parts with frozen plant seeds and lifestock
mix all of the above on a barren planet with appropriate temperatures and you'll end up with a new planetary type. (Should an atmosphere be missing, bring another 50 freighter of atmospheric gasses, water and regional ice.)

What. Buying trade goods from npc to run the PI content and bypassing the player market? If so then I'm sure CCP have worked something out that will let it be completely player built and supplied. I'm just commenting that it would be neat and clever of them if they figured out how to use all that trade crap for something that is useful to the new market.

Or a barren rocky airless world that has to be completely encased in bio domes so there would be a great need to ship in gigatons of soil. The quafe comment works well also in that the luxury goods might improve the productivity of the planets various industries. Now add in industries that can make stuff like quafe or export material like soil from a green world and it starts to become totaly player run. You litereally could be the quafe king/queen.
edit: whoops didn't mean to make an additional post. =p
