And the question came to me, dreamily, on a cloud of Veldspar dust...........
Why do the pew pew crowd hate us carebears so much? Why does it drive them insane that we love our little sandbox game just fine doing our mindless mining and building, missioning and just lazy lolly-gagging?
"It's a PvP game!" they scream, all red-faced, veins standing out on their heads, as they shoot at us, thinking that their pathetic displays of e-peen violence will somehow make a difference in our idle, industry world.
Keep up the suicide games, boys. We are enjoying collecting your insurance money as you buy new ships from us. It is, after all, what we live for.

First, who is the pew pew crowd? And third, who said they hated carebears so much?
I know how you feel. Material of this nature affect us all in different ways. What you need to do is learn from this. And this is just my sig. |

Because that is the kind of person that the PvP lifestyle often attracts. EVE would be terrible as a game if it only supported one of the many playstyles. While some folks realize this, some folks have some sort of pipedream about how the game would be so much better if everyone would only do exactly what they're doing. This goes for both sides of the PvP fence: Pirates who truthfully hate carebearing as well as carebears who truthfully hate piracy. Not in the sense that they don't personally enjoy it, or want to stop others from doing it via in-game means, but to the point where they believe it should be removed as a viable playstyle via CCP intervention.

You're confusing "miners and industrialists" with "carebears". Just because you mine or build things you're not a carebear. A carebear (by my definition) is a person who becomes outraged and indignant at the idea that someone could *possibly* infringe upon their enjoyment of the game via PVP. Whether it be being suicide ganked in highsec because they were stupid and autopiloted with a billion ISK of minerals or if they were missioning in lowsec and ignoring local and got caught by pirates, they don't assume responsibility for their mistakes and blame 'the game'.
So no, the 'pew pew crowd' (IMO) don't hate the miners/indi guys. It's the carebears who hate the pew pew crowd. As for the carebear lot, I've never met a more maladjusted and psychotic group of sociopaths in all my life. -- Bellum Eternus Inveniam viam aut faciam.

You're right, I see tons of threads on the forums about how pvpers are so emo over carebears. Oh wait, no sorry that's an endless stream of whiny carebears that post nonsense like the OP in a desperate bid to get attention over the tragic loss of some imaginary pixels.
0/10, you aren't even trying anymore.

Its good you feel this way really, as a PVPer (I dont high sec gank etc) its good to see not tears but a smile from someone who doesnt mind getting ganked because hes mining and can stick it to back to the players who do so.
After all their would be no PVP without the Industry side of EVE.
Is good thread imo.

I agree with this. Just becuase you dont spend 99% of your time in EVE ruthlessly murdering everyone you meet and maybe compete in other ways does not make you a carebear.

^^ This. Ship-to-ship combat, while very obvious, isn't even the most vicious PvP you'll find in this game – there are (apparent) carebear activities that will make that pale in comparison.
No, the carebear hate comes from the attitude that the actual carebears have: that the very mechanics that make EVE special – the open nature, the inherent PvP in… well, everything, the fact that choices matter – should all be removed to suit their particular taste (which essentially boils down to wanting a single-player game).
So the question "Why do the pew pew crowd hate us carebears so much?" is based on a very flawed premise: it assumes that you (the OP) is actually a carebear. You're not, as your very last paragraph betrays: "We are enjoying collecting your insurance money as you buy new ships from us. It is, after all, what we live for." The pew-pew crowd doesn't hate you, because you're one of them – they just hate carebears. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

The PvE crowd and the PvP crowd will always see each other as stupid in some way or another. You most likely know somebody from the other crowd in real life.

There's a guy in the corp I'm in that almost starts cursing the moment you even mention the word "mission", "mining" or even high sec all together.
According to him we should all live in null and kick the crap out of the enemy alliance.
I wonder how he wants to buy a new ship when everyone is pvping and no1 is building stuff or mining the minerals to build stuff anymore :/. But then again I cant really approve of any of this because this is my signature |

Sounds like he should be thinking about finding a new corp tbh.

If your apparent unawareness of the many answers to that question is typical of your corp, he should definitely leave.
