Using Eve-Swoope is as easy as 1, 2, 3, Swoope! When you are ready to start buying your ships cheap and quickly there are just a few easy steps which can be found here EvE Swoope
Swoope!! Tell your friends about your new super cheap ship! All referrals get 5 free bid credits!
More in to the how it works, this site is far from a scam, and here is how it works and how we can sell ships so cheap! Every time someone bids we effectively make 500,000 isk so for a ship that costs 100m isk we simply need 2000 bids. Now we are not sure this is going to work perfectly at first we are sure that over time this will become a very popular site and as long as you bid with some common sense everyone wins very cheap ships!

Statistaclly speaking of course.

Edited by: SilentHunter13 on 23/02/2010 21:06:49 Pfft, gonna try this. I've used a swoop like site before and it works nicely, got some great deals off it.
This could work in EvE. Gonna try it out when the server goes up for it.
Worst comes to worst and not alot of people bid on the items which means I get a cheap ship... I don't care, isk grows on trees. ------------------------------------------
Analysing and Destroying your arguments since early 2007 :) Enjoy.

I'll be interested to see if they can cultivate enough interest to keep the system running as they want.
Ideally with a swoop they make small profit, to larger then normal profit, if if if intrest is high enough. Generally in the initial stages of something like this you stand to actually loose your butt for a while. Then over time you start gaining and start making very good profit. With the ships they are thinking of selling it'll be interesting to see if they have enough capital to keep it afloat while it runs in the red.

So, basically it's an auction system in which you pay for the privilege of bidding? --------------- Faction-Militia:Player-Alliance::Newbie-corp:Player-corp |

Yes but if you only bid 20 times you can get a battleship for 10mill!

Uhm...if I bid 20 times, other people were obviously bidding in between my bids, each of which, in most general bidding fee auction schemes, would increment the price. That I've only bid 20 times means that, if I won, I'll have spent 10 million for the privilege of spending more money to actually buy the item at its final auction price, whatever that may be. --------------- Faction-Militia:Player-Alliance::Newbie-corp:Player-corp |

Which would be no more then 1.5mill for any of the battleships online atm so 11.5mill for a battle ship? sence it starts at 10,000k and goes up by 10,000 with every bid

Which is great, if you win. Of course, the more individuals there are playing, the lower the probability that any given player will win (and, thus, the greater the probability that they will just be ****ing money away for naught). --------------- Faction-Militia:Player-Alliance::Newbie-corp:Player-corp |

This works better with RL stuff. I forgot the name of the site, but there is one based here in Oklahoma where you bid in 1 cent increments, but each bid costs 60 cents... They really take a loss on some stuff (saw a Playstation 3 sold for $30.00) but on other stuff they make serious profit ($100 gift card sold for $55 - that's $55 + 60 cents for each bid, so in total they made $3,255 in PROFIT on that).
I really wish I had thought of this (IRL). ---

Look at the top left corner of the forums. See that little R with a circle around it behind the EVE logo?
Might wanna find out what that signifies...

Edited by: Tulisin Dragonflame on 24/02/2010 05:09:55 Gambling disguised as an auction, basically. There's nothing wrong with the business model, and it may even work well for them. They tend to feed on ignorance of how the mechanic actually works, so make sure you educate yourself before you use one of these things (in EVE or IRL).
Although just like in-game auctions they can always have an alt toss in a bid here or there if it looks like they won't come out way ahead on an item. Since the monetary gain takes place mid-auction instead of after, they can actually just have alts win everything but still collect all the profit (unlike other auctions where buying yourself out causes you not to get any outside money).
