Heres the deal, i created an alt to check out changes to the character screen and possible newbie mission changes(the new char creation screens rock btw i wanna talk to the artist that designed those piccies heh), bought him a couple of bpo's and transferred them and since i am waiting on a petition reply as to why my first referred agent wont talk to me i thought i might find a factory slot and rent it.
Location is abudban 8 - moon 6
Find a factory slot in the first station wicked
click on the rent button to see a cost of
185000 isk
yes i crap u not, for a first time renter or even a first time player, this much isk per week is rather extravigant dont u think.
Did you guys forget to leave the newbie schools out of the corp markup and increased costs of lab/factory rental caus that is the only reason i can think of that a brand new char that has never rented a slot would be charged 185k isk straight off the bat to rent a factory. Anyways leaving it in your hands

My understanding of the prices is that they rise as long as all slots in a station are rented - not for as long as you personally hold a slot - so if all the slots in a station have been rented for a long period then, yes they are going to cost that much.
The fact that you are using a newer character doesn't help you at all.

the last time i checked a free slot in rens station 1 was 500000isk

There are several systems nearby where the factory rent is still 40k.

Rent costs depend on demand. In some system in regions where theres hardly anyone settled you can rent factories and labs very cheap,but you have to look for them.
