Greetings.
I am playing Eve for 2-3 months (not very actively so far) and was wondering ù what is eve end game all about? i am already doing lvl 4 missions and done lvl 5 with friend as well but i assume thats nowhere near end-game. So that leaves me with corporation and corporation wars.
I am an MMORPG player since yr 1995 or so so i ve seen a lot but so far the corporation i was in didnt give me any taste of what those are actually doing. What is it like?
Is it like you do what you want for a month and then at 3.00am you go online along with other 300 people and capture enemy system? And then mostly defend it if someone is attacking. Or is it like every evening raiding? Or is it all about kill boards and isks lost / gained? Or is Eve basically so casual that you may only have something to do every once in a while and is not supposed to play it for few hours / day? (unless ofc you like to roam around without any particular reason) or... ?
I do understand that the answer is probably "just do what you like", but i am just wondering if i am missing something because from what i saw so far its mostly small gang roaming and killing innocent unprepared enemies / neutrals and then warping out whenever enemy is gathering significant force which isnt challenging nor entertaining.
Also those big corporation fights ù are those guys fighting for resources? Isnt it better to just go to wormhole and there you get all the resources you need?
Ty for your answers.

There is no end game in EVE, although CCP likes to refer to null sec as endgame despite the fact you can go there from day one. What you describe does happen but its not endgame anymore than being a trader is endgame.
In EVE you really do need to decide what you like to do and go for that. The game does not tell you what to do, as other games do, so no 'end game raiding' or whatever.
So it's a matter of picking the corps that suits what you want to do, including what you described. Or you could instead pick a corp that does a multitude of other things instead. I think you have missed a lot of what you can do in the game. It's not about just missions or corporate wars, that's just a small part. There is a sticky somewhere which lists the numerous things you could do but even that is far from comprehensive.

Seriously though, you answered yourself already. EvE endgame is what you make of it, and what you want it to be. Because EvE is a sandbox, therefore you make the rules of your own little game you play in it. The very definition of a sandbox is: "here is the sand, here are some buckets, now play!".
Some then build sandcastles, and try to destroy others sandcastles while making their own bigger (nulsec), some like to steal others buckets and throw sand at them (lowsec) while others enjoy a nice drink of lemonade while sunbathing in the sand (highsec). Yea, its a oversimplification, but its basically true.
So to answer you about nulsec: people kill each other because it is fun. And they want to "prove" their sandcastle is prettier with better architecture than the one the other side built. Even though they are most likely the same thing... a sand hill. _______________________ We come for our people! |

EVEs' end game is the friends you make along the way as you achieve and fail at attaining goals you set peronally and as a group.
There are many types of corps out there. There are those that do all the things you say, some that do one of the activities, and others that dabble all over. When you start looking to join a corp hang out in their public channel and talk with members and get a feeling about what they do and their personalities. Find a group that you click with and start setting goals for yourselves.
As for roaming gangs always atacking unprepaired targets, there are numerous types of traps out there that can be set. So not always is it stronger gang attacking weaker gang, but many people go with the saying that you do not enter a batlle that you know you can not win.
As for 0.0 some of the fighting is due to resources, access to trade hubs, control of system pipe lines that are used for logistics, pure ratter ganking, and other reasons to battle it out, but none trump the plain old fact that pvp is a huge arenaline rush.

I see... well, give some sort of prizes for achieving high rank and i buy it xD Or may be there are some rewards already for achieving the most insane kill/loss ratio or killing 1 million peaceful miners etc?

The reward is your pride in your achievement, as well as the fun you have along the way.

This game doesn't give out rewards or prizes for x amount of kills, etc. You might get some loot from a ship you destroyed, you might get a bounty from someone you killed if they had one, you might fight to keep others out of your system so you can exploit the resources, there are no rewards other than those you claim for yourself.

Hi,
what a corporation is doing largely depends on it's leaders. Usually there is only a small bunch of people in the know. For the rest of the members corp-life is all the things you mentioned:
- killing NPCs alone - killing NPCs with a fleet - killing players from other corps - mining together
In 0.0 all those activities contribute to one goal (in an ideal world of course). With the current sovereignity system, an alliance can improve the benefits they get from a solar system. So, ideally, you have most members active in those activities that the alliance wishes to improve. The result should be higher income for everyone.
The pvp centered players will roam around to kill boredom mostly.
And of course in 0.0 you have to defend your home every now and then, leading to 3 am ops.
In high-sec the corporation wars are mostly attempts at ransoming another corp. Sometimes a corp declares war because they want to have a first go at pvp. They are definately not fighting for resources.

There are huge differences in player corporations.
The only way I can think of answer this question is that for any activity you can think of (and probably some you haven't yet) there will be at least one corporation out there that specializes in that activity.

To defend themselves or to attack the enemy. Being in war is a good enough reason to do it. And while everyone runs when the enemy gets a fleet together, not everyone runs away...

Corporations that are at war or in a 0.0 alliance usually see ops (there's a PVP fight somewhere) pretty much daily. You have to realize that all time zones are playing on this one EVE server, so there are operations in EU prime time, US prime time, and probably Asia/Australia prime time too (though they have a problem in that the daily downtime is smack in the middle of their prime time).
It's not raiding (a la WoW), it's PVP.
How often you can do it depends on your income, and basically this game is an economics simulation where you try to make ISK in order to spend it on the "fun" of PVP. At the alliance level, the reason why the large alliances try to hold 0.0 space is because the resources (minerals, moons, taxes imposed on their members, etc) can provide a source of cash that the alliance can use to reimburse ships lost in PVP, so that basically their members participate in these wars "for free" (they don't have to grind ISK to replace lost ships).
Small gang roaming fights can be ONE type of PVP. It's mostly done by (smaller) corps or alliances. The big alliances usually fight over territory, 200+ vs. 200+ fights involving capital ships, where both sides are definitely prepared and willing to fight. Financing something like that costs a lot more ISK than can be obtained by a small group from wormholes, really.
