I must admit that I am a fan of being able to buy and sell characters in this game we call EVE Online. Let's face it, this game is all about grinding time training skills and as you progress in the game you might find your self wanting to do something different.
It's nice to have this ability to buy a new toon with a different skill set from your own and have the ability to do those things you always wanted to try, or have the ability to fly different ships.. ect.. ect..
One of the side affects of this, is you buy someone's identity or much worse you have to give up your own identity to use a new toon.
I'd like to propose that instead of out right selling complete characters, we should instead sell their skill sheets. There are a few advantages to this that I'll point out.
1) It would allow players to keep their identity in game, but could then choose to focus on a different area of EVE.
This means you don't have to buy a toon with the name "L33TMASTER56768" as you would have the opportunity to buy the skill set from another player and implant them into your current character and keep your in game identity.
2) It would help in account theft. If someone's account is hacked their toon can be transferred away which can cause a lot of problems. By only selling the skill sheet, the toon could not be transferred away just the skill sheet. I think it would be much easier for CCP to rebuild a skill sheet.
One area that would cause some problems, is a 5 day old toon could possibly end up with 100 million skill points. This would make a toon's age useless as an intel tool. I'm not sure what could be done about that part.
Overall though, I feel selling a skill sheet over selling a complete toon would be a better option.
If enough people think it's a decent idea I'll start a proposal topic.

This sound very interesing. You will sell complete skill sets, or you can sell say - only inustry lvl5 (and this will be only lvl5 or lvl 2-5 in?) ? Ank destoying char. days as intel is very nice - because it will make life for griefers much harder. It will be surely interesing think to have. ------------------------------------------------

I think it's a great idea.
They could either be copied from existing character's skill sheet or researched from a collection of skill books- random skill levels or a research skill queue?
Existing skill sheets can always be added on to with further research but, there should be no way to break them up.
The size (in SPs) of a skill sheet a character can use should be limited by the maximum SPs they could possibly have at their age, minus 17%. In other words, you wouldn't be able to replace your character's skill sheet with an exact copy of it until it has 20% more SPs than it did when the skill sheet was copied.

if this where to be implemented it would have to be a all or nothing effect, the moment you can pay XX isk or YY real life money for some ones indy 5 skill the whole aspect of the game is destroyed( in that you cant buy your way to the top).
as an example i dont think that there would be a problem if i created " justborntoday" as a new character and then applied a skill sheet i purchased from some one online. as in order to make that skill sheet the original character would lose all there skill and be set back to a more or less freash character. this would keep it as the vurrent system is now but allow you to set the name you wish for your char.

I agree that seperate skills shouldn't be sold, but the original idea of selling that character's skill sheet is a very good idea. Or, if not, then CCP would allow you to change the name and/or the avatar of the purchased character.

There's a possible problem with this: Get two characters and train gunnery on one and drones on the other. After a few days/weeks/months "sell" the drone character's skill sheet to the gunnery character.
