Missles werent nerfed this time around but theyve fallen down the nerf tree and hit every branch in the last few months.
Disadvantages of missles: 1. Theyre slow as Christmas, compared to insta-hits of guns. A gunship can sometimes kill a missle boat before his missles hit, or warp away if hes about to get wtfpwned by the missle spam. 2. You can smartbomb them. A destoyer with bombs can totally shut down a missle boat. 3. You can shoot defenders if you have a missle tube...they fit in rocket slots dont ya know... 4. There are only a few skills and bonuses to improve missles, as opposed to a LOT for guns--consideration for longtime players 5. Only a few ships can mount them, most such ships have sucky defenses. 6. BS sized missles in particular have REALLY crappy damage over time compared to medium-range BS guns. 7. Outside of bonuses on a couple of ships, theres no way to extend range of missles. They have good range, but if they dont go, they dont go. 8. Unlike guns, there are no tech2 missles and from what Ive heard no immediate plans to put them in.
Not saying theres are problems that need to be addressed, b/c except for #6 theyre basically what missles should be, just remember this before you cry about how 'overpowered' missles are. DOnt you love the people that use the words "cry" and "whine" when there is a chance of their pet uber trick gettign nerfed.
Your sstatements about missiles are no longer relevant. You cant catch the missile firer before he can land 10 to 15 salvos on you and when you do catch him, there is nothing to say he wont have guns as well.
As for using smartbombs, as I said before its useless. The timing on a missile assuming you are both dogn 500m/s (the missile boat is kiting you) is 2.1 km/s close speed on a FoF cruise. The timing for evan a heavy smartbomb with a 5km radius is 2 seconds. You have to detonate 2 seconds to 0.00001 seconds from your ship. Smartbombs have 10 second recharge timers so to provide full coverage you would need 5. But lets say we fit only 2 and let some missiles get through. Lets say we CAN catch the missile user within gun range (not blasters because that is impossible). You now have low cap, low shields, low armor potentially (if armor tanking) and he has nearly full cap, full shields, full armor and potentially guns as well.
Might as well warp away.
Anyone saying "learn the game" is usually not using all the facts, certainly not the ones that dont support them. Prior ot Exodus the only valid defence against missiles was "close fast and hammer them" Now its "close exttremely slow, and prey they didnt mount turrets as well." --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one. |

Then why do I keep seeing apocs and armagedons beeing used as a main offensive? Instant dmg and the dmg they give is HIGH.. Missiles on the other hand need to flyyyyyyyyy and then hit (and potentionaly get raped by defenders on their way to the ship) and they do avarage dmg.
And like someone else sad, you have a ton of turrent improvment skills, while you have O for missiles, except for ROF and Dmg.. Turrets are still superiur to missiles.. No need to be calling NERF NERF OMG OMG TOMB NERF IT NERFFFF

Then why do I keep seeing apocs and armagedons beeing used as a main offensive? Instant dmg and the dmg they give is HIGH.. Missiles on the other hand need to flyyyyyyyyy and then hit (and potentionaly get raped by defenders on their way to the ship) and they do avarage dmg.
And like someone else sad, you have a ton of turrent improvment skills, while you have O for missiles, except for ROF and Dmg.. Turrets are still superiur to missiles.. No need to be calling NERF NERF OMG OMG TOMB NERF IT NERFFFF

But you need to get CLOSE enough to hit them with the turrets. Lets not ignore relevant facts shall we? Missiles can slam you from 100km out. And turrets can be jammed disrupted and so on, FOF missiles can not.
And not everyone can mount defenders. Most gallente ships have no launchers. Even if they did, defenders are flighty at best. --------- The words "Exciting" and "Safe" are mutually exclusive; pick one. |

Err.. wrong, a cepter can orbit and out-run missiles, while being extremely hard for turrets to track.

Since when does pvp happen in complexes? As for PVE, you're setup should depend on how far the npc's will try and keep you at. There is a number of ways of cutomizing your range... different size turrets, ammo & skills.

Also forget to mention, Intys can still outrun missiles with over-sized AB. Get off you high-horse and stop starting new threads which in the end, come down you not wanting to change your set-up and train a few skills that take only a few hours. **ADAPT**

Interceptors aren't the only ships in game, though. And you're basically saying the only thing that can avoid tech.1 weapon is specialized tech.2 ship.
