This one had around 30 times the energy and no doubt caused some massive damage but unlike Haiti, chilean infrastructure is built with earthquakes on mind and, although not at the level of a developed country such as Japan, it has resources in place to handle these situations. Chileans are used to a big quake every 10 years or so, they hadn't had one since 1985 in that area so they knew they were overdue My guess is they will need help but not at the level Haiti did.
