This is the first time that I have really used the forums so I am not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but I think that there should more hauling ships. Well I guess you have enough ships but the capasities are strange to me. The Mammoth holds 5,625 cubic meters. The Mastodon has 5,250 m3. Then it skips up to the freighter Fenrir at 720,000 m3. I just think if you are hauling there should be something between 5,625 and 720,000 m3. Like 50,000 m3. I would even settle for 20,000 m3 stock. Just my opinion any way.

Basically you have a bunch of t1 industrials, ranging from some 2-3k m3 up to 48km3(Iteron Mark V, maxed out). After that you have transport ships that in general are not larger, but sturdier and safer. After that, you have the orca, with a cargo of 100km3 + 40km3 corp hangar + 400km3 ship maintenance + ore bay. then after THAT you have the freighters.
The gap was large, but the orca is meant to fill that gap. Parrots, commence!

This has been said before the usual answer is orca, although that requires a completely different skill set than the industrials.

Instead of buying orca+skill book you simply can buy a freighter lol ------ Make Lowsec useful! Vote in the CSM-Forum! |

Orcas are many magnitudes faster than a freighter. A manually flown orca gets 10 second align times, and can warp at speeds up to almost 6 au/s. A freighter either needs a webber or will have an aligntime of some 40+ seconds(before implants), and warps at 0.8 AU/s. And that's while ignoring acceleration. Parrots, commence!

What are you talking about its about 550-600m for an orca with skill books and cargo rigs. The freighter costs about 700m and the skill books another 120m

in 6 days of training or so you can use a mammoth with 4 expanded cargohold II and 3 cargohold optimization I (rigs). It will cost you about 40 millions because of the rigs (so EFT says), and it brings 27k m^3 that can become 35229 m3 if you have to haul little things (with 9 giant secure containers).
It' a bit expensive actually, but you get a 35k m3 hauler with a 6-day training or less. I would consider this way if you think you're not ging to lose it.

Edited by: Kliendathu on 28/02/2010 08:33:03 Yeah but flying through low sec I don't like to have a lot of cargo expanders in I use my low slots for warp core stabs. Optimized cargo rigs also lower your armor as well. Maybe they should have covert ops Haulers.... LOL that'll be the day.

Heavy Interdictors ignore how many stabs you have fit. Don't ever fly a T1 hauler through lowsec.
