Hey I just started playing Eve again with a buddy after quitting two years ago and I remember nothing haha. Anyway my buddy is a Minmatar and I was wondering about a nice ship to start PvPing with. Right now I have 2.6 mil SP I don't really wanna list everything I have but if needed I will (I have hardly any skill points in mining/salvaging) so all 2.6mil points are into drones/ships/guns ect. Currently I have a Thorax with a Mission set up I believe not exactly sure how I set it up I have some notes saved on a Mission Thorax so I'm guessing that's what I did. When I did play a few years ago I had no idea what I was doing.. like now =D.
Current Setup - Thorax -
HIGHS: 5 x 150mm 'Scout' I Accelerator Cannon [Iridium S]
MEDS: 1 x Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners 1 x Patterned Statis Web I 1 x Barton Reactor Capacitor Recharger I
LOWS: 1 x 1600mm Reinforced Nanofiber Plates I 2 x Faction-specific armor hardeners 1 x Medium Armor Repair II 1 x Capacitor Power Relay I
DRONES: 5 x Hammerhead I
But any insight is greatly appericated for my buddy or I on how to get started into PvP in eve. We understand it's a long process/learning curve but we are down for the challenge. Thanks!

If you want to get started in pvp, join a noob friendly pvp corp.
is it possible to fit medium blasters with the rest of your setup of the thorax? It's a blasterboat, you should fit medium blasters.

Yah we're planning on doing that so we can ask a lot of questions ^.^ and I have no idea on the medium blaster question.

I'll get the ball rolling, if you want to use a Thorax this setup is dirt cheap and should work well in a small gang. Upgrade to named/T2 mods if skills/funds allow, but honestly when you are learning PvP, its always nice to keep your fits cheap, as you will blow up a lot
Thorax [Noob Pew] Magnetic Field Stabilizer I Magnetic Field Stabilizer I Damage Control II 800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I
10MN MicroWarpdrive I Warp Scrambler I Stasis Webifier I
Heavy Electron Blaster I,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster I,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster I,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster I,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M Heavy Ion Blaster I,Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge M
Hammerhead I x 5
There are plenty of other fits out there, for example a 1600mm RT + Small blasters fit, but for small gang work, keep it ganky.

Would help if we knew what your buddy was in (or could be in). The Thorax and Vexor are a great pair of ships, even better if they're fit to work together with a partner.

tbh I don't think there is ever a reason to put a 1600mm plate on a thorax.

You loose a bit of DPS (502 vs. 687 with my skills), but your tank is good enough to survive long enough to kill your opponent. Both work either way. Not sure what rigs to put on the gank one, so I threw on some speed ones since more damage rigs wont fit, and tank rigs are pointless without an armor or shield buffer.

With slaves & akhemons the 1600 Thorax has many more EHP than the 800 Thorax. |
