Edited by: Jigzi on 01/03/2010 03:31:47 Just a noob question, where there is always tons of people with their sensor booster on? Is it because they are camping the station and wait to catch someone docked inside???

Well people have wars and other people suicide kill people with expensive cargo. In both cases it's pretty important to lock people down fast.

Both reasons why I have a quick jump BM about 500km out from the station. You can't lock me in the time it takes me to go to warp, and I don't have to fight with the bumping when I'm trying to align this way either.

makes note to have gang members cloaked, spread out between 400 & 600km from the station :P

thats either going to be very worthless as they will not be able to lock forever or is going to be a very expensive gank

You didn't think it all the way through. The cloaking ship is going to be prepositioned with probes out set to only show the target class on dscan and probe results. As soon as the target uses the insta he spams his directional scanner set to the area he needs to cover until the ship he is after shows up. Probe ship down and warp to result. Then if your target is there and afk thinking he is safe in his crafty insta warp out or still aligning for warp you just bump him out of alignment and have the gang warp to you and let them do what they do. In case the target is warping away when you arrive you just bm the spot set up an ambush and wait till the next time he uses it then poof buh bai freigher.

heh, everyone here is vastly overthinking this. There's a station and a planet both naturally aligned to the Jita undock. No need for instas, just warp to the natural station insta, then off to whatever gate you want.

turning-on all brackets works for me. Shows the moon and planet that don't require any align time.

They wardec big loose alliances then hope to catch players from these alliances who are unaware of session change mechanics or insta-undock bookmarks and kill their ships/supplies they just bought right at undock. There are always a few who attempt to suicide gank people undocking with their newly purchased goodies as their ships are aligning out, but the ninja-looter problem of course is pretty severe in Jita plus it is a 0.9 system so your sec status will go down fast.

This is, unfortunately, not true for all cases. Some time ago, CCP changed undocking mechanics. It used to be that when you undock, you would only go forward a little bit before stopping. Now the undocking mechanics has the station kick you out at your maximum velocity in a random direction, up to a maximum of pi/12 radians (15 degrees) away from the average undock trajectory. This means that if your undock trajectory when you created your insta-undock bookmark had a trajectory at one extreme, and your subsequent undock when you want to use your insta-undock are at an opposite extreme, you ship must take the time to align to a new trajectory pi/6 radians (30 degrees) away. If you are in a ship with particularly poor agility, then this can take much longer than is safe, or at the very least comfortable.
Even the most ideal insta-undock bookmark has a worst case scenario where you must change your trajectory by pi/12 radians. Industrials, which are notoriously slow to align, could probably be easily killed in this time. ----------

Bad advice. When I freigthed stuff at full time, there were smarter wannabe scanners parked at the planet in front of Jita as well.
It's not like yours is a super-mega secret.

False. First of all you get launched in a random cone of 15¦ around the station exit, if you have a big ship you'll take several seconds to align. Second, with > 1200 people in local it can happen that you get a "black screen of death", guess why it got such name...

You are over-complicating things. According to Murphy's Law it will bump into a freighter, move at an angle of 135 degrees of the closest celestial, with a speed of 1200 m/s. If the industrial by sheer luck manages to survive the 4 minutes to get into warp, it will get popped by smartbombs at the Perimeter gate from another fleet ganking a frigate.
