Hey, people, it's your average 2 month old misson running noob with a question for ya!
I just did my first lvl 4 mission (Massive Attack vs Sanshas) and I've been having trouble, it seems that either lvl 3's in a batllecruiser (drake) are easier than lvl 4's in a battle ship (raven), or I simply have a bad fitting, (at least, more-so than usual)
I ask this beacuse recently It took me and a friend like 5 minnutes to break the armor tank of a single battleship, (A Centus Overlord) we were even using explosive and kinetic ammo! Sometimes I feel that my drake had a larger dps on it. Plus, this mission at a lvl 4 agent is paying about 200k more than my lvl 4 one which take much less time to do.
So my questions are: 1. Is this typical of a noob doing a lvl 4? 2. Is my fit adequite for lvl 4's? [High slots] Malkuth siege missile launcher x6 450mm railguns x2 [Mid slots] Large shield extender II x2 EM resistance amplfier II Thermal resistance amplifier II Invulnerability field I XL shield booster (A named brand, don't really remember which) [Low slots] Balistic controll system I x2 Power diagnostic system I x2 Co-processor II [Rigs] No rigs, as I am poor after saving all my money for my first BS, though suggestions are welcome.
Oh,and I guess one last thing 3. How often do lvl 4 missons warp scramble you?
Thanks a bunch!

Most noobs coming from Drakes have trouble with L4s until understand aggro and active tanking.

Not really. Most L4 ravens fit cruise and no guns. It lets you focus on one thing. There's a thread in Ships & Modules right now about how to fit Cruise Ravens - http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1277195
Quote: 3. How often do lvl 4 missons warp scramble you?
Not terribly often. Here's a guide for that, and many other things: http://eve-survival.org/wikka.php?wakka=MissionReports. I recommend bookmarking that and checking it before every mission until you have it down.
Best of luck!

Edited by: Kia Tor on 01/03/2010 05:21:25 I'm not an expert, but, I would find it very difficult to do lvl4s with that fit. Do a search, use Eve-search. There have been thousands of Raven fits posted.
As a matter of fact, Liang would probably be on of the best to advise you on that.

That piece of advice was priceless. Really do so.
Also; I'm not sure where you're missioning but I'm not so sure how a low skilled Raven compares against a low skilled Amarr BS against Sansha rats, damage and tank wise. I know that a low skilled apoc or abby with T2 drones make short work of that mission.
Sansha Massive Attack is amongst the most easy combat missions you will get in Amarr space. There are missions with 10x the amount of battleships as in that one.

this.. and in general, as a complement to eve-survival.org this: eveinfo.com on npc-ships
and: you're not only mixing weapon types but also active shield tanking (shield booster) and passive shield tanking (shield extenders) which is a bad idea. with a raven you should stick to "pure" active shield tanking.

Im pretty sure that a Centus Overlord does EM/Therm damage, and you need to hit them with EM/Therm. I run level 4 missions in a nighthawk, although im no expert, I do think its more a case of using the right resists/damage type and managing aggro correctly.
Linkage This website has proved invaluable for running L4's.

If you find yourself getting sansha missions a lot then train amarr, lasers melt them nicely

IMO Ravens Suck! As do most BS for missioning. A good Drake will walk you through any lvl4 faster than a BS. But you'll need mostly T2 gear & some T2/faction ammo, if you need help with fit or rigs for the Drake, look me up in game & I'll give them to you... For a very good price

You do need help chapie.
Well, dont use Siege launchers on a newbie raven. Use Cruise launchers. Also against sansha, use EM, not exp and Kin. And the rails are too large for the small frigs. Use drones. Other than that, always read the mission guides, and your fit is OK. Manage aggro and also scramming in semi common. Pull my finger. |
