Trying out cynos for the first time and have no idea how far a light year is in relation to the number of jumps or how to establish distance, the cap pilot has level four jump drive calibration on Singularity, the first cyno put out at 60 jumps showed 11 light years, after about 10 jumps through normal gates the distance went up to 13.7 light years.
Any clues would be most gratefully received.

Jump Planner
Look into that tool, works in game etc, it's pretty self explanatory.

Open your star map and make sure it's not flattened. The Eve galaxy is 3-dimensional. Jump gates just go from system A to system B, without regard for range. Jump drives on ships and jump bridge modules rely on the distance between the actual systems on that 3D map. I know of no way to establish that distance other than to either try it in game or use one of the third party applications that calculate it. ______________________________________________________ Isn't it enough to know that I ruined a pony making a gift for you? |

Dotlan maps does the job nicely thank you, I was wrestling with the Cartesian and Polar coordinate thing for a while. Have to agree - you'd think it was part of the main-game dynamics, curiously the closer in normal jumps I got to the destination, the further it was in light years. Hell of a dog leg that went from 11 light years to 23 after about 15 standard gates closer in normal travel.
