Ok, so I jumped into clone last night and decided to go with a set of LG Halo implants. I understand the effects for the most part, but I have a couple of questions that I couldn't find answer to:
1. does the set incur a 'stacking penalty'? I have 4 of the implants in, but I am not sure if it gets stack penalty like regular modules.
2. Is the Omega or whatever the set booster is called - is there a stacking penalty incurred?
3. Why the #$#@ is slot3 LG Halo about 5x more expensive? I checked multiple regions last night, and while most of my LG's were 10-20mil isk, the Neural one is 50mil+ everywhere. I was going to get it and the Omega booster until I saw that it cost more than the Omega in some regions. I'm still interested though it conflicts with another good slot6 implant I already installed.
This is my first set of implants along these lines, mostly I've only use the Basic/Standard/Improved and hardwirings.
I guess also, what class of ships are these Halo's really intended/good for? I can fly Minmatar AF's, Loki, BC's, and BS's. Soon interceptors. I have multiple jumpclones so I'm definitely down with experimenting with other sets of LG's. Corp and I mostly are PvE but we do some Wormholing (though usually with Drakes in C2's). Oh, and yes I can easily afford to lose this jumpclone, his implants, and insured T1 ships lol.
I guess last question...I'm almost into a Claymore/Sleipnir, and have all the Siege Warfare/Spec etc to L5, and Cybernetics5 right after that. Would the Crystal set be something to look into to go along with this setup (using all 3 Siege ganglinks + Mindlink)?

The opposite actually, it is like the on switch for making it good.

Supply and demand. They are drop items and can come from the LP store. They cost a lot more in the LP store and they have less of a chance of dropping.

They work on other stuff too, but they are great on AF. Interceptors lean more toward snake sets.

Crystal is for shield boosting, so if you will be shield boosting then yes it would be good.

Many thanks Hesperius. I went ahead and splurged on the Halo Omega (LG) but haven't pulled the trigger on the slot3 one yet. Since I'm tooling around in a Jaguar in this clone I figure I might as well. Prob end up getting the slot3 one as well to complete the set. Again, thx for the reply!

Not 100% sure if the math is still accurate, but this was the best reference for pirate implants awhile ago.

thanks for that link, I saw that a long time ago I think, but it should be still valid, and it did answer another question I had about whether you could mix the +3 variants with the +2's and still get bonuses...some of the +3's are actually very good prices in certain areas. But I'm still kind of unhappy that the slot3 Neural ones are still 60+ million in about 9 different regions now that I've been in (been having to go around last couple days and repair my horrible -6.95 Amarr standings via Caldari and Ammatar lol).
