Is it true in general that when faced with a more difficult level 4 mission that requires you to omni tank (say, worlds collide), a sentry Dominix is difficult to mission with? I just got my butt kicked in the final room of Worlds collide, where my Domi couldn't survive long enough to even kill one warp scrammer before I was dead.
It just seems like Omni-tanking is not something an armor tanker can do acceptably, unless you devote almost every slot you have to get a tank, and even then a difficult mission will still kill it quickly. It is possible to get about a 600 dps omni-tank on a dual rep dominix, but you won't have room for the omnidirectional trackers to use sentries. I would say that doing so with only 2 or 3 minutes of cap isn't enough to survive a difficult room.
Has anyone else run into this? Any thoughts?

Do one side, warp out, swap tank? is there any mission that *really* need you to omnitank?
I've done WC several times in my single rep Domi ( when I was really low skilled ), not a problem if you don't try and use the same fit for both sides.

your real problem is that you are using drones in worlds collide.
Drones aggro's the entire pocket in that mission.. you really need to be running that mission in something other than a drone boat. --------------------- Creator of another Mining Calculator |

Not true. I have done it countless times in a Domi. The only time I have got full aggro is when I hit that can on warp in.
The only time drone will draw full aggro is if you set them on those spies in the second room.

I died like that once.
That version of world's collide has a group of rats that aggros you on warp in (including scramblers as I recall) and another that doesn't. If you launch drones and attack the scramblers then the other group aggros and wtfpwns you. If, however, you use an afterburner to slow boat away and then launch your drones at a safe distance you can kill each group separately.

Dunno where you're running missions, but in Gallente space Worlds Collide is Guristas v. Serpentis, and those two pirate factions are just two sides of the same coin. Therm/Kin v. Kin/Therm is not a particularly large tank variation, I've never switched out my standard v. Serpentis set on WC.

When I ran into trouble I was running a low sec Ammatar Mandate World's Collide with an omni tank, but I don't remember the factions involved any more.

I started running L4's with a Gallente pilot and his dominix. Then I realized how much easier life gets with a shield tank. So I crosstrained for a Raven and never looked back.
Surely, some ppl will say the Domi rox and I wouldn't argue that. Especially now that you can have one with 6 med slots... mmm shield tanked Domi.

This!
Used this tactic several times and all was going well.
Trying WC or AE in an omnitank might be a bad idea. These are the L4¦s i put the second LAR in, removing gank.
Maybe its just lack of "balls" of mine, but i don¦t want to loose it.

Edited by: Snyderm on 05/03/2010 15:15:56 Yeah, thats exactly right. I warped in with my domi, aggroed almost everything instantly, started taking some decent damage, so I decided I needed to kill the warp scrammer quickly and get out. Well, after I launched my drones, they never even did damage to the scrammer before I was completely dead. This was an Angel/sansha mission, which deals all damage types in the final room.
What I did was bring my hyperion in and After burned away from everything, and then picked them off. Probably a quicker solution would have been to bring an omni-tanked, afterburning domi in and finish them with heavies.
But anyway, I had 0% chance of survival in my sentry domi.
Next time I think what I will do is use a Dual Rep sentry domi using energy vampires. That sounds fun.

Edited by: Derin Vamberfeld on 05/03/2010 16:49:04 The major point to remeber on WC is to ignore the two "Spies" that scram and web you. Typically you will gate into the room and nothing but those two ship will aggro you. Motor away from any structural obstacles, get aligned with a celestial and hit one group of bad guys at a time while still complete ignoring the "Spies" Any dual repped active tanked Domi should be able to keep up with the DPS of individual groups. Once you get the groups down to a manageable level, pull your hvy drones and set Hob IIs on the "Spies".
Nos's may help some cap issues, but they won't kill the cap of the "Spies". If you are not cap stable with one repper try cap boosting.
