Hey,
I read the forums a bit, and I found out that for a .4 POS you need 4.0 average standing with your corp with the respective faction. Since for my corp this is not going to happen anytime soon we are probably planning on making a pseudo corp.
My question now is is when you get the standing needed and you anchor the pos, does it affect the POS when the standings drop below the required standing needed to anchor it?

The standing is only needed for anchoring the tower. Your POS is unaffected if your standing drops afterwards.
There is a lot of workarounds for this weird standing requirement. Making a dedicated corp for owning POSes, or temporarily kicking members to boost standings are some of them.

Ok that's good news.
An added question.
What services will the original corporation be able to use when the POS is actually owned by the dedicated one?

If the two corporations are not in an alliance, absolutely no services. If they are in an alliance, you can set labs to allow alliance members outside of the corp that owns the POS to do ME and PE research that does not require materials. POSes are property of a corporation and may not be transferred to another corporation without un-anchoring it and re-anchoring with the new corp.
A common solution is to create a new corporation with only those members whose standing is high enough to anchor, wait the 7 days for the standings to set, anchor your new towers and move your old ones, then have people transfer over to the new corp. Once you let people into the corp that will drive your average below the required level, you have 7 days to anchor any other towers before the players' standings are counted.

Note that 0.4 systems are completely useless for a POS, as it has all the risks of lowsec and none of the advantages, plus it requires charters. You are better off in 0.3 or hisec.
If it is a small corp, and someone has the required standing, just booting the low-standing people out for one downtime is all that is needed to place a POS.
I have a POS in a C2 w-space (0.0) system. It doesn't require any standings, or charters, and the only capitals to worry about are the ones we built in the system.

I just found out it is impossible to put up a refining array to mine moons in .4. Is this true? :'(

Totally not an alt of Jesslyn's, who might or might not be able to post for 'personal attacks' when calling someone dumb. |

Yeah but he said highsec is good too, I can't put down refining arrays only do research and stuff, but in highsec your POS can get attacked without concord getting in the way, or so I've heard.

Hi you can only place a moon harvester in a system lower than a 0.3, the only real use for a POS in high sec is for invention and research of BPO's and BPC copying, I am not sure if you can anchor and use a reaction in high sec how ever and buy your moon mins off the market to achieve your reactions, I would like clarification on this if someone has the time. As for you POS being attacked in High sec with out a concord response, I believe that that will only be the case if you are war dec'd again clarification would be appreciated.

Refining arrays do not have anything to do with moon minerals. You are thinking of harvesting arrays.
If you are doing lowsec, i would suggest mining and reacting, not necessairly in that order, but if you do hisec, it really is research and invention only.
you may find that having a hisec station is extremely useful, while the lowsec towers make you the isk.
@ Tereliss Verr
1 reactors are only lowsec, null. sadly you cannot run them in hisec.
2 concord will protect you in hisec, unless you are wardeced. You could be ganked, but i haven't even thought about how many one bs's you'd need.

You can not mine moons or carry out reactions in 0.4, only in 0.3 or lower.

Personally, I think that if your faction standing drops below the legal threshold for anchoring - your POS tower should go offline and unanchor, along with all the structures and labs.

however that is an opinion and not the game mechanic, a new post to express this opinion would be the right course of action. Not posting in a "how does this actually work" thread
