Ok, I've got to the point where i'm starting to think about going for a carrier, i already have remote energy / armor / shield trained up, and both shield and armor tanking for caps ( just jumpdrives + race to go for)
My main already has Caldari BS 5.
I'm getting trained up, then once i feel well skilled enough ( and rich enough) going to join up with a 0.0 alliance.
How much use are chimera's in Fleet fights? in my understanding *most* of 0.0 is armor.
The Archon would be the next obvious choice ( giving me nice BS's on the way), but can't rep pos's.
Would i be going wrong to completely disregard Caldari Capitals?

If you want to be the guy they call every single time the pos needs reps then the chimera is for you but if you want to actually be of use to your cap fleet go for the archon. Tbh as cheap as carriers are you should not really have any issues training for both so you have one for pos work and the other for fleet work. So I guess go for the chimera first then start training up amarr. Also its hard to beat an apoc or rev for pos killing operations.

I have been pondering a similar problem myself. I have decided for the moment to just go get in a chimera(already have caldari BS 5) and see what I can do with it, maybe switch later if I need to. That and the thing looks f***ing awesome.

I own a chimera and have used it in RR fleets before.
I'm also currently training Amarr Carrier 4, simply because every BS in fleet armor tanks. ________

Any of the 4 is good really, the differences are very small.

Right now the FOTM is Amarr and they armor tank. Shield tanking is all passive these days and I suppose of some use but the Chimera is mainly used for POS repping... You can throw out cap transfer in fleet though just as much as anyone.

as coughing out 500 mill on a skillbook to sit an rep pos's seems a waste to me ( esp considering i won't get as much rep in fleets, and hence die more often)
looks like i'll be training for an archon :D
Thanks

Edited by: Kenpotchi on 08/03/2010 18:18:12 Amarr is FOTY BTW. Every single one of there ships shines in a particular role. I <3 Amarr

That¦s a particularly flawed way of looking at things. Thanny¦s and nids rep shields too so you certainly won¦t be the only one, and support more often than not (HACs, dictors) is shield buffered. Sov warfare also has been moved away from POS¦es and 50% of supercaps are shield buffered.
