After a bit of experimentation I have got a pretty good handle on this.I'm sure you have noticed as you roam through drone regions that each system has a load of wrecks in the belts and one or two russians that magically instantly warp to a pos the instant you enter local. Well guess what, they are bots. So here is what you do.
Step 1:Scan out his POS using directional, prefferably in a ship with covops cloak. Step 2:Position yourself directly between the bot's warpin (usualy the corporate hangar) and the belts in system. Step 3:Anchor a mobile warp disruption bubble between the bot and the belts. If the pos has turrets just do this 350km away from them. Step 4: have your gang move out of the bubble and log off, the bot doesn't begin his timer until everyone leaves local. Step 5: Each bot has a different timer from 5 to 30 minutes, so wait a bit and then all login at the same time and there you go, the bot will be slow boating through your bubble. I recommend fitting a web.
The coolest part is that the bot doesn't know how to escape in his pod. Anyways, please try this out and reply to this post with any resulting killmails. Here are a few examples of what to look forward to.....

Edited by: Ran Khanon on 07/03/2010 16:08:19 Very nice. I was sceptical but I guess the amounts of ammo and drone loot give them away.
Alternatively you could just put a cloaky alt in system and leave EVE running 23/7 to make that system and their pos useless for botting. Unless those bots are customizable with exception rules for player names in system -> proceed to gank as soon as you become 'allowed'.

Really? So you believe this:
Quote: If the pos has turrets just do this 350km away from them.
works?
Have you ever used a bubble??
Edit to add:
Quote: A secondary function of the Mobile Warp Disruptor is its ability to 'drag' ships out of warp and onto the edge of the 'bubble'. If you warp to a point within 100km of a disruption field your ship may be pulled to its edge. The warp disruption field must be placed along your ship's warp vector for this to work. In other words, should you draw a straight line from the location your ship exited warp in the direction which your ship is headed in, and should this line intersect the bubble at any point, then your ship will be pulled to that point on the edge of the warp disruption field.
Highlighted the important parts for you.Source

That works because the end point of your warp (the gate) is within 100km of the bubble. No probs there. The OP suggests a bubble 350km from the POS turrets, so the intended victims warp end point is > 100km from the bubble placed safely outside battery activation range. This doesn't work. Go test it. I did.

Leaving aside the idea of using a Mom to catch a macrobot (sledgehammer v walnut, anyone?), I would have thought bubbling the target belts would do the job (although never tried bubbling a belt - assume there are no restrictions?)
Incidentally - do POS turrets target non-blue bubbles?

If you honestly have pulled this off, I'd suggest it's not the bubble doing the work. It's actually your ship, generating a gravity well due to critical density of pure awesomeness. Because it would be awesome - but I don't think it works. Mainly because I've tried it and it never worked for me.
I could have just stuffed it up of course. But if it did work, I reckon you'd see suck bubbles a lot further back from gates than you normally do.

Actually, if it did work (and im not siding either way, my bubbles are usually around the 80-100km mark purly because I CBA going any further out), you'd still see bubbles at less than 150km from the gate.. why? if it was over 150km from the gate, you could just turn around, move about 1km so you were out of the bubble and then warp to the gate (except for the short period after the last patch, but before the patch to fix it, when bubbles would suck you backwards). AFAIK sling bubbles work as long as the arriving point off warp is in the same grid of the bubble (and the vector of arrival is intersecting the bubble). The usage at 60-100 km before / after gate or arrival point, is to prevent the bubbled guy to just go to the edge of the bubble and warp to the gate. - Auditing & consulting

I love the fact that everyone is repeating the same point here. [Bubbles do infact need to be within 100km of the endwarp point to work], either in front [known as a 'wall' bubble] or behind [a 'drag' bubble].
And to the people who are worried about turret range etc on POSes, if you have roamed dronelands enough you will know that 80% of the POSes that these bots use are usually small, undefended POSes. The Ruskies also like to have undefended Beacon POSes in their back end systems for Caps to Jump to [a lot of Rorqs].

Well, that's the point isn't it. Everyone isn't repeating the same point, obviously, because some people are saying it does need to be within 100km of the endpoint and some are saying it just needs to be on grid and intersecting with the path.

Has to be at in a max distance of 100km, either side of the gate/point the target originally jumped to.
I've never seen one of those grid bubbles actually work. But I hope I'm wrong, I'd like to try this (the bubble anchoring at a POS, that is). --------------------------

bubbles only work within 100km of the warp in point, and only if you have the bubble in place before the other person initiates warp
If you logged out, then a bubble was placed where you were, woul will return to your last position, and be inside the bubble, not caught on the edge of it like in normal circumstances.
Anchoring 350km away would never work. you would need to anchor is in alignment to a belt. probably 80km from the POS Shields near the hanger array.
I do like the idea though.

Anyway I read
Linkage
which is linked from the EvE wiki.
At a certain point it mentions:
Quote:
Bubbles can also sometimes suck ships out of warp if they are further than 100km from the warp destination.
Now, I cannot check about bubbles first hand (never seen one placed so far away, as people would just go to their border and warp to gate / station) but that does not say it's 100% impossible to have a bubble farter than that (even if it'd be stupid). - Auditing & consulting

I am pretty sure it used to work so long as the bubble was in the same grid as the warp to point (and alligned of course) ... eve-wiki as a source does not impress me.
Just test it in practice.
