As we all know, the Goonsquad was a terror known to all for causing chaos among players and developers alike, and not just in EVE online. Though in EVE, before they disbanded, they released information on a very large and extremely innovative operation which involved the research and implementation of the utilization of log off game mechanics and a mathematical equation to create deep deep safes in solar systems. So I had a thought.
I wondered if it was possible to make a bridge between two systems using the Goon's equation for deep deep safes. I then looked to Jove space and thought it would be amazing to be able to get there using this new idea.
I did the calculations and a lot of deep thinking. I calculated that it would take just over 5 days of nonstop deep safe making to create bridge between two systems which were about 2 light years apart. It hasn't been tested, but in theory, it is very possible to make a deep safe 2 LY out from your system of origin using the goon's equation.
The bridge between two systems, though, is not possible for three major reasons.
Reason 1: One would have to be able to calculate the distance and the exact location of the target system from his or her exact current location. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no possible way to do this in EVE online.
Reason 2: The Goon's equation calls for a point A, a point B, and a point Q which lies past point B all in a direct line. Point A would be starting location, B would be target destination, and Q would be actual destination and your deep safe. My thoughts were that once you created a deep safe in the direction of the system that you wanted to go, you could then just continue to create a string of deep safes until you reach your desired system. The only problem is that one would have to align him or herself in a direct line with a distant object (at least 20 AU) and the target system. This brings us back to reason 1. Plus, there couldn't even be a centimeter of error or the person could end up light years off course.
Reason 3: My hypothesis for a system bridge would only be possible assuming that the in game solar systems were not instanced, meaning that they are all a single entity. After very little thought, I have decided that all of the solar systems are instanced and they each have their own nifty little server (node) on which to operate. It would simply be too much data to have a whole region of space equivalent to a cluster of stars and the distance a couple thousand light years full of players, NPC's, planets, stars, ships, missions, stargates, etc. running on a single instance. So even if you did create a string of deep safes reaching 2 LY from your origin (which in theory is still possible), your computer would be telling you that you're still in the system that you started in.
And so, the idea of infiltrating Jove space was crushed before it came to fruition.
I would still love to hear your thoughts and ideas. Perhaps I will be inspired to come up with another idea like this one. :}

I've heard of people doing something similar. IIRC they actually managed to "reach" the destination system by the galaxy map, however they were still in the starting system. ---- --- ---

When you could sling shot off probes it was done.
I have a safe spot that looks like im in Jove Space according to the map. But as i havent jumped a gate im still in JZV.

How utterly interesting... If one were able to reach a Jove system, it looks like there are gates connecting them when you mouse over them.

The problem is there are no gates connecting the rest of EVE to Jove. Only a Dev can move you there.

Something you should understand:
Systems in EVE are not locationally bound in the EVE programming; IE, if you were to MWD all the way out of a system until you reached another one, you would not find another system there. Your location in EVE is a system name + XYZ coordinates in that system. The systems themselves are only linked logically through the gates, not physically in the gamespace. I once moved to ~4000 AU from a star, well past the locations of other sysems. I was still in the original system, and there was only one star, albeit extremely distant.
So, unless you activate a gate into Jove space, and start a new session inside of a logical unit of Jove space, you cannot get there, no matter how fast or far you go. -------

I think they got left their after a tournament rather than found a way to get there. My memory is shocking though. I have some recollection of a cyno to... who knows..

Hmm found this,
Quote: Getting to jove space used to be possible, I once had a character there back in the early days of the game. CCP left clone station selections in jove space so you simple set your clone to a jove station killed yourself and wake up in jove space.
There wasnt much to see, nothing on the market, no asteroid belts spawned, no rats, no agents etc. So while you could go ooooh jove station that was about all you could do.
CCP soon sorted this bug out.
Tornys are held there arnt they? So if you wanna go.. get a team together

Someone once made it to Jove space.
However, since you warp there from one system, there will be no session chage to load teh new systems. EVE does not work that way, so you will remain in the same system just far far away form the center :) You must gate/jump into it. (or have Dev move you).

It was done by flying into flying in a nearby system so far that you should be in Jove space according to the map even though the server kept you tied to the system you started in. Then you would relog and server would look at your loc and decide you were in Jove space.
There are safeguards now and this doesnt work.

This is false.
They way they got there was thru setting your clone to one of the stations in Jove space then dying in some fashion. You could never go from one system to another without either jumping or traveling there via clone.

That's the link for the Goon's equation. Remember that Deep Deep safes have little significance other than in large fleet warfare, or while traveling through low/null sec with a non-CovOps ship.

There's a really awesome video of some guy using the old probe mechanics and terrible scan deviation to propel himself all the way to Jove space after a long while.
There was no way for him to be physically 'there', but he was on the map.. __________________________________________

I heard that the old probe method was nerfed. Or am I wrong? The goon's way works, though. It just takes a while longer.

You could ( and people have) gotten there technically. But without a jump through a gate to initiate a session change you wont have the content there load. So as long as there aren't working jump gates or a way to initiate a session change to load Jove space for you to interact with it your stuck in the middle of nowhere.

During the alliance turnament I was in Jove space. Unfortunately the system didnt have any gates, so we couldnt warp off after the battle and flee from the devs into another system. (well, the fact that your ship insta pops too if you leave the arena or the warp in points is also rather unpleasant)
