Hello all
Before we start, my main char. is Gallente but recently I cross trained to Caldari; and now I am the proud owner of a Rattlesnake.
My current skills (not sure witch one of them have impact on torps ): Cruise Missiles: 2 Heavy Missiles: 3 Missile Bombardment: 5 Missile Launcher Operation: 5 Missile Projection: 4 Rapid Launch: 4 Rockets: 3 Standard Missiles: 3 Target Navigation Prediction: 4 Torpedo Specialization: 3 Torpedoes: 5 Warhead Upgrades: 4
Caldari Battleship: 3 Gallente Battleship: 5
Since I don't know very good the "torps stuff", I need some help.
I found these implants: Slot 06: ZMT2000 (5% Damage Multiplier) Slot 07: ZML1000 (5% Max velocity) Slot 08: CC8 (nothing found on this slot that will help my rattle torps directly) Slot 09: ZMS1000 ?! Slot 10: ZMM1000 (5% rate of fire)
* now I train for Target Painter Operator Elite * I plan to do LvL. 4 missions (maybe even LvL. 5)
How dose the ZMS1000 works? I don't really get it... Will I do more damage to smaller targets?
Did I miss something? Any other ideas? Thx |

first and foremost, the rattlesnake is a drone boat, with missiles secondary dps. in other words, you should have good training in heavy drones, and all drone support skills.
Now as for missiles, improving in one type of missile has no effect on another type. so heavy missile helps heavy missiles and cruise helps cruise.
your training looks fine in terms of torps, focus on drone (interfacing, speed, heavy, maybe t2 heavies).
and make sure you can fit everything t2 into that ship.
implants are expensive with no huge bonus given. i think for torps you can use a 3% or 5% missile speed and flight time to be able to hit the battleships further away. cruise tends to be the preference but with a few target painters and a little more effort torps can be used.
keep in mind you are not getting much more dps since it takes longer to fly to a target until it is in range and the accuracy of the torps is inferior to cruise missiles. you also lose alot of tank since you need to sacrifice mids for painters instead of tanking stuffs.

Aside from the Cruise/Torps decision. You need to leave room in your mid slots open for drone tracking links. Also leave some rig slots open for sentry drone damage augmenters.
The rattlesnake is now a drone boat and Sentry drones are going to make up a key part of your DPS. Train for them.

The Rattlesnake is also known for having an amazing passive shield tank. Unfortunately, if you go with torps you lose the ability the passively tank and will need to fit an active tank. You'll also need to mount at least two Target Painters in order to use the torps effectively, which means you won't be able to fit Omnidirectional Tracking Links if you use Sentry Drones.
Torps also don't work well with a Rattlesnake's passive tank. You need range rigs for the torps, so you lose the the Sentry Damage rig and the Shield Purger rigs. You need BCUs in the lows in order to increase Torp DPS, but you also need Shield Purger Relays in the lows.
Use cruise missiles instead and rely on Sentry drones for your primary DPS. Torps will be very underwhelming on a Rattlesnake.

Guys, lets try to focus; I have Gallente BS to V... what do you think? I can use all T2 drones including Sentrys... I did 500+ lvl. 4 missions in my sentry domi; Don't mind the Gallente part.
This thread its about the implants! Not about using cruise vs. torps or how its better to fit the rattlesnake... This is exactly why I did not post my fitting, so we don't talk about anything else then the implants...
I wanna use torps on my rattlesnake with 2 target painters... will the implants mentioned above help? especially the slot 9?! Would it be better to use other implants for a 2x TP torp. rattlesnake?
Thank you

Yes, use ZMS1000 in slot 9 and anything you want in slot 8. The other slots are correct for torpedoes.
The ZMS1000 reduces your missile's explosion velocity. There are two formulas to determine missile damage, to over-generalize, the first formula determines if your explosion radius is bigger than your target's sig radius. The second compares the explosion velocity against the target's velocity. ZMS1000 helps with the 2nd.

Really might depend on your fit. Active/Passive?
Slot 8 If you like to use AB Hardwiring - Eifyr and Co. 'Rogue' DY-2 / DY-1 / DY-0 Reduction in afterburner capacitor needs.
Slot 9 If passive Hardwiring - Zainou 'Gnome' KYA2000 / KYA1000 / KYA500 A neural interface upgrade that boosts the recharge rate of the shields of the pilots ship.
Slot 9 If active Hardwiring - Zainou 'Deadeye' ZMS1000 / ZMS100 / ZMS10 Decrease in factor of target's velocity for all missiles.
Nice imp. lookup if you don't have it. Linkage

@ Psychotic Maniac
I did in my Rattle some lvl 4's as both passive and active tank; and I also soloed some lvl. 5's (passive, ). I'm really tempted about the 2 passive implants (KVA2000 and KYA200) but for now I just wanna see how far can the torps go (using the Rattle) The link you posted: thats where I found the ZMS1000
Its so sad it can't fit 2 sentry rigs...
One day I will fly the Golem for lvl. 4's and the Rattle for lvl. 5's; but with my current skill plan I can't fly the Golem for the next 400 days
Well then, time to grind some isk to buy those implants |

active tanking and torps work best in angel missions singe range isnt that big of an issue but like someone said ealier implants make a differece if you active or passive shield tanking. implants for torps. you need at least 2 TP to make the torps work since you cant use rigors all 3 rigs should be range
1-5 crystals if you want to splerge 6 - Zainou 'Snapshot' ZMT500 7- Zainou 'Deadeye' ZML1000 (velocitry) or Zainou 'Deadeye' ZMC1000 (flight time) someone could say what is better? 8 - couldnt find anything 9 - Zainou 'Deadeye' ZMS1000 10 - Zainou 'Deadeye' ZMM1000
also there is a implant that makes using your cpa booster use less cap...
with passive shield im sure there was a shield regen and max shield recharge.
