Except forums are a written communication channel, and should be treated as such, not as a transcription for spoken language. It could be argued that real-time text chat is more akin to spoken communication in text form, but I see forum posts as informal electronic letters that happen to be public.
There is always bold and italics for emphasis, so I see no reason to quote things or make things in all caps unless it's correct to do so. It bugs me and makes things more unpleasant to read. I do usually find your posts interesting reading, though, because for the most part, they're written in an intelligent, literate manner.

This. As I said Akita, it annoys me that such that I have trouble taking in what you have to say. I'm not playing forum warrior here. Originally by: Celeste Coeval
Call me pedantic, but maybe I'd listen to more of what you had to say if I wasn't so infuriated by a clearly<----(good usage in this new context)intelligent player misusing word form and grammar.

On a gaming forum. On the internet. Where it is difficult enough to get people to spell in a half-coherent way. Where 'grammar' usually is considered a rather nice idea that had a place at one time but now just gets in the way of things and should probably be sent off to some far away place where it won't annoy everyone so much (sort of like the elderly).
This thread turned into a debate on the correct use of emphasis in typed form?

More often than not Akita is right and you're always free to have a discussion based on facts if you disagree, but that would require one to HAVE the facts and not just a biased, unfounded opinion...
We have a fanboi! Chribba's worshippers are better by far. Consider conversion since the Master of Veldspar's forum posts tend not to include "CCP should do blah, blah, blah or else!"
Getting somewhat on topic though - Am I to understand that CCP licenses their technologies to another company who the operates an independent cluster? I was under the impression that China's cluster was, in fact, a CCP operated system.

There is no discussion in here. This topic contains nothing but an insecure teenager revealing his issues to the world. While he may occasionally relate to the topic, his postings are focused only, and only on one thing - his issues.
The way he encourages his fanboys to celebrate him in his favourite issues platform doesn't change the fact that his postings basically belong deleted for being entirely offtopic.
At least in every topic that isn't called "Akita T's issues".

Edited by: Iamien on 14/03/2010 01:10:28 Chinese EVE is CCP's Red-headed step-child who lives at boarding school and is never discussed.
CCP helps with the technicalities of running the servers, But the Chinese-based company takes care of customer management/support. Said Chinese company makes sure it follows all of China's laws regarding MMOs. These laws require personal identification to register, limits on playtime between all MMOs combined, and content filtering so ideas such as revolt are not impressed on the Chinese people.

Thanks for the details. I was aware that China had some heavy handed laws controlling internet usage and gaming, but CCP's limited role in the Chinese cluster is, I guess, surprising.

I find all Akita's posts have that same effect.

It's very heavy handed. WOW was closed down for several months when Blizzard tried to switch the operator there. Also all expansions have to go through an approval process so they sometimes don't get applied for a very long time or need heavy editing (such as not allowing undead or skeletons). That's why many Chinese players use proxies to play elsewhere, such as Korea.
So I suspect with CCP it's a licence with an advisory role only.

Right.
This thread gets to be alive in General Discussion despite it being full of arguing, while my thread, that actually had funny and original content, got locked by the shadow for having a few trolls in Out of Pod.
But im not bitter... just making an observation.

I'm actually seeing if this one can be resurrected with the scalpel of moderation or if it's time to pull the plug.
