Sooo, when we got this whole new sov mechanic, Providence fell due to how hard it was to keep up and running. How expensive and inaffordable it was to hold an entire region on low income (the southern moons ?).
So instead, the term renters > pets started to evolve, large alliances was handing out more sov to small alliances. Keeping control in known and friendly hands, without breaking sov holding.
Now, DCF control allegedly more than 70% of 0.0 space and are about to/want to take more than 80%.
Should this be possible ? is it NAP's "ruining" the game or are they getting to much isk compared to the expense of holding sov ?
Am I whining and don't know what I'm talking about or am I infact maybe onto something ?
btw. looking at the influence map these days makes me almost cry and want to quit :(( |

yeah, if you are part of DCF apparently. us down here in the corner won't find it as funny if we are kicked out of 0.0 because we have morals and don't want to blue all of eve.
We have been in the old Providence some of us, and now goons are turning all of 0.0 into NRDS space ? |

Unfortunately with the SOV mechanics and the scap issue as it is this was always going to happen, I was hoping for later rather than sooner but it look like it's happening quicker than I expected.
It's bascially the world circa the 80's when it was two superpowers pretty much controlling the world. It needs rebalancing.

I guess the 'two' super powers in this case is DRF and goons, which are friends. so not really like the 80's :P Unless you still considder -A- and friends a superpower, then I guess yeah.

Zero sec has ALWAYS been like this; it is a core part of the meta game.
Either you stomach it or get out. Personally I never bothered to get in.
Sooner or later all the NAPing will make the people who like to blow stuff up bored and they will either leave the NAP feast or make internal conflict. This eventually make the NAP block shatter as carebears run for high sec with their former brother in arms attacking them or abandoning them. After enough destruction a new power block will emerge and all the carebears will head in that direction, NAP everybody nearby and the circle will start anew. The problem is inherent in most people which is there are only a small miniority of people that actually like out and out fighting most people would rather rat, trade and make money.
You get to a certain size and you get comfortable with your circumstances and atrophy sets in. Goons are as usual an "unknown" quantity as I'd imagine they will do the exact thing that will **** people off the most.
In this I mean if it annoys more people that the Goons will blue DRF et al they will just for the lols and etc etc. Unfortunately I don't even think the Goons through force of power alone can do anything really no matter how much postering etc they do but I imagine they will blue DCF and then work internally as they did with Bob.
Or they could just be bored with the whole thing like most of us and not really give a rats ass. God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!"-á I came second and won a toaster. |

A sandbox just alludes to a free roam with the artifical barriers that you find in more linear games hidden. If the sandbox is broken then you change the rules of the sandbox. Simples! God Said "Come Forth and receive eternal life!"-á I came second and won a toaster. |

Nope it`s not `ruining`the game. It`s capitalizing on it`s foundation. It`s all about making the best out of what we have...
sov. mechanics are booooooooooring. I mean, I was there. Shooting a stupid inanimate object for HOURS just to put it into reinforced mode is quite nerve racking. Then, you get to come back to finish it many hours later. The counter to this looong grind through millions of HP is to deploy supers, rendering any chances of a goodfight from barely any to none at all.
Therefore, Never forget Yulai.
You either get this or you plain simply don`t.

Nobody is actually winning the game as 0.0 is only a part of the game and in that a minority of population within the game, if to make your earth shattering statement correct you would need to change it to someone is winning part of the game. I consider the current SOV situation to be much like Alexander the great, Napoleon, or WW2 Germany, none of them were able to get into Russia all the way. And this is really what the Russians do best, isn't it? Goonswarm was sort of our UN by having a vast amount of numbers and combined firepower in those numbers. The problem is that we lack a US, English, Israeli, and Chinese, force to balance out our new Russian overlords.

Provi was held by CVA because it was worthless space that nobody wanted. The new system upgrades changed that and I think CVA pissed somebody off or someone got bored.
The DRF is very much the opposite of friends with goons and co.
