The insurance fraud is the only thing holding the mineral prices up at the moment, if they lower the base cost by 40% then mineral prices will follow in the next few months and we'll have the same situation as before, except miners get screwed over...again...

…and yet, no-(economic-)consequence concord-assisted suicide, especially when aimed at producers, is just what the market wants/needs/dictates as a self-balancing move when mining becomes too abundant. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

How do you know mining is too abundant? There are two other massive sources of raw materials in eve which contribute more than half of the raw materials. Suicide ganking is a market balancing force when minerals are too abundant, whether they were originally mined or not.

I don't, but it's a fair guess based on the fact that it stood for 40(ish)% of the production on average 1+ years ago, before mining became even easier and even more mining-related sources of minerals were made available.
But sure, the same logic goes for mission runners, although they're less targeted since they might actually survive every now and then (and when attacked, it's commonly for profit from the loot drop, rather than for the reason of "hey, we've got a bunch of no-cost ships – let's blow stuff up"). ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

I know that Crystal Balls are fun to use and all that, but there already is a thread regarding the insurance on Singularity over there in the Test Server Feedback forum. So please continue this over there, and I will lock this one in the meantime.
