I had started another thread, but never got a response on my final question.
The basic result was proteus should be better than a legion for exploration in serpentis space, however, my follow up question went unanswered.
My base is between the Blood region and Serpentis. Would a proteus be good for blood territory as well? Sometimes my region is crowded, but the region next door is empty.
So which should be the most flexible for fighting Bloods and Serpentis? Legion or Proteus? Thank you, "I was about to say GÇ£HereGÇÖs a RubikGÇÖs cube, go f%$^ yourself,GÇ¥ because thatGÇÖs what we do with EVE Online." EVE Lead Game Designer Kristoffer Touborg for PC Gamer |

I would go with a Legion. Will give best damage to both and more importantly you can keep range on the blood raiders as they will neut. Missile enhancers.. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1235061& |

I am not so sure, thing is resists of the Legion are actually worse suited to Blood raiders than the Proteus.
I will admit to having not explored in blood space but it seems to me again thermal drones would be a good damage type, and although they have travel time can be used at range, while DPS with scorch on a Legion is likely not to exceed 500dps at 50km.
A Legion fit is likely to have no drones and prob be afterburner fit, just seems a little riskier.
If anything the Loki is a better ship for Bloods.

Hrm, well a loki is out of the question for now. Everyone has been pushing me to go Tengu, but flying caldari is just not me. Guess I'll just have to find some new fits, since most of the old ones don't apply anymore. I have used Loki, ,Legion and Tengu, and no matter how much people hate missiles and caldari, the tengu is still the single most versatile PVE boat out there. Missile enhancers.. https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1235061& |

Dito.
I finally got myself to buying a Tengu, and I haven't regretted it. It's a wonderful ship for PvE content with practically no downside (apart from having to train some missile skills, which isn't bad anyway considering ships like Drake/HAM Legion/Sacrilege for example) |

Isn't HAM range inside Neut range? Missiles should ignore the TDs, but the neuts will kill my tank if I'm looking at this right.

If you can already fly a Proteus, why not use an Ishtar?
Or setup a drone based proteus? With the new ampy you can make a sentry proteus that still has a wicked tank and dps |

Problem with the Ishtar is I can't swiss army knifeify it. I've been using the Ishtar, but I want to scan and rat in the same ship. Which is supposed to be the advantage of t3s. The systems are just too big in this area so I need DSP, and the sentry ishtar requires me to totally strip it down to fit the expanded launcher. I've been doing the dual ship route. But Then when I finally find a sig, and go back 10 or more systems to get my ratting ship, when I get back someone already cleared or started the plex.
I am mainly looking at the Sentry Proteus because of the Serpentis space I live in, but since Blood space is nearby and a good place to go when this region is to active, I thought it might be best to get a ship that should be good dealing with both. Thus this thread. The main reason I trained Gallante and drones to begin with was because I liked how versatile drone ships usually are. But the Ishtar really does need more CPU.

Downsides of the sentry Proteus compared to Ishtar along with the bandwidth issue are small drone bay (no room for two sets of sentries+mediums) and lack of mids to fit two Omnis and profession module.
Anyway, two ideas, first a traditional-ish hisec version with sentries:

Sweet, I appreciate it. I'm gonna be at sea for a few days. But will give those fits a try when I get back. "I was about to say GÇ£HereGÇÖs a RubikGÇÖs cube, go f%$^ yourself,GÇ¥ because thatGÇÖs what we do with EVE Online." EVE Lead Game Designer Kristoffer Touborg for PC Gamer |
