It's that time of year again when EVE coincides with my eating honey nut cheerios and wanting to log on for a few minutes before work to set up some sales for the day, tweak skill training and so on. Can't you guys move the down time forward an hour too? Why do you even need a down time every day? Is it because you're running on Windows and SQL Server so you need to restart / reboot due to the memory leaks and disk fragmentation etc? If so then please get a real OS and DBMS mmmk. Otherwise please move the down time to when I'm not home. tyvm.

They don't reboot the servers you twit. It's for clearing out the database of useless crap and re-seeding stuff that needs to be seeded.

I don't believe you. What useless crap do you speak of? delete from crap-containing-table where crap-col = 'crappiness' Not that hard. Reseed? Why can't that just happen in real-time.

Here are a few things to try. Wake up earlier, set skills before bed and if that doesn't work see a doctor about addiction counselling. The games up 23/7, always has been and I can't see that changing. Everyone needs some downtime and I much rather a short 60 minutes (Usually faster) downtime than a weekly downtime for hours. Grass Grows, Birds Fly, and Brother, EVE needs to be reseeded everyday or there'd be nothing left. Breakfast for you, lunch for me and dinner for India. We all have the same problem.

You sheople simply accept downtimes as a given because it's an MMO. I say no moar. It is time to end the downtime. I demand 24/7 access just like any other reasonably implemented high volume system that's still around in 2010. Is there downtime for Amazon.com? Nope. How about CNN.com. That's right no. How about Google.com. You see a pattern here? Replication, clustering, it works. Yes they do some of this already but not good enough.

Yeah yeah... every other MMO.. o wait.. they have downtime too, as any other MMO does. The fact you don't know the difference between a news/shopping website and a game client/server baffles me. Your talking about saved profiles, information, logs, etc. Google also has giant server farms.. CCP.. well they have hamster cages and a fish tank that includes the broken webcam.
So i guess what i'm really trying to ask is.. why should CCP move their entire downtime schedule so you can eat cheerios and check your eve mail? What benefit does provide to CCP to change this? Other players in other time zones will be affected as well.

Because everyone in the world a) observes Daylight Savings or whatever b) does so on the same date c) goes in the same direction.
Oh, wait, no, not even close.
Don't blame EVE because your local governing body is stupid enough to think that changing the clocks is somehow a good idea.
For me, downtime happens at 7pm every day. The epitome of primetime. And you know what?
I don't particularly mind.
You're complaining about it not being optimised for your convenience first thing in the morning? Deal with it, princess.

Yes that's all true but I didn't post that you liar.
The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is Lord Khorkrak when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

i also think dt is fine where it is, but then i live in nz and dt happens at either 11pm (during southern hemisphere summer/northern hemisphere winter or 12am (during southern hemisphere winter/northern hemisphere summer) and as such is my que to go to bed and sleep.
so ccp, please keep tranquility dt right where it is and move singularity dt to either the same spot or to start as tq dt is finishing ____________________________________________ Please resize your signature to the maximum allowed of 400 x 120 pixels with a maximum file size of 24000 bytes.StevieSG |

Damn them interrupting your playing while you munch down breakfast!!
To fix this I propose we move DT to around 18:00 EVE time because it won't interupt your breakfast and will be now while I sleep. Everyone will be happy!
