Quote: As of November 2004, Eve has passed 53,000 subscribers
Eve is sitting right smack in the middle of the "healthy" zone with a nice 2% share of the MMOG market.
Of course we can still see how utterly out of this world all the Asian MMOG are subscription wise.
Imagine eve with 1mil+ subscribers
Any plans for Asia yet CCP?? You've hnted about i last year but nohing since then...

1 mil subscribers? EVE would be one crowded place. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

I don't think CCP as a company can handle more then 65-70k subscribers.

Dont give them any cray idÚas , if CCP were to release EVE on the asian market the servers would crash and the game would not be playable. Can you imagine having 300+ pilots in Yulai at the same time. EVEs servers can barely keep it together when CA has a fight with SA & Co , so just the thought of asians comming into EVE scares me.
Thou ... i dont care to much since im quitting when WoW goes retail , then you can open EVE for the entire world for all i care

Roger that, I read recently that WoW was under alot of pressure to get their player base stable by adding alot of additional servers after going live. this is definately somehting CCP needs to think about way beforehand, before taking that plunge.

wtf traitor! Why quit a good game for a bad one? Can I have your stuff?
I think it would be a great idea for CCP to release eve in asia, because more money means more improvements and a better, bigger game! I don't worry about server crashings, as CCP have demonstrated they can handle such things. Plus they can afford to spend a bit more with the prospect of so many new players. They might even expand the gameworld, making alliance space high-sec and creating an even bigger, new 0.0 to be explored and / or conquered by our asian bretheren! ------------

The nice thing to see is the solid increase in subscription numbers, while most other games in that range are stagnant, or declining. Very nice looking graph.

Wow is ausome. Sold over 250,000 copies on the day of release. I usually don't like Blizzard games but WoW is much, much better than I thought it would be. They were so kind as to finish programming their game before selling it. And the manual is relevant! Go figure. ---------------------------------------- "Cry Exploit and let slip the Dogs of War" |

Yer allowed 10 characters on each server. Versus EVE's 3 characters on the only 1 server. j0o0o0o0o lose.

In actuality, technically, there is a ****load of servers, when you log in you connect to one of thirteen proxy servers that connect into 40 something application servers which in turn connect to two sql servers. All in all, running what you see as one persistant world for all eve's players together at same time.
Now, in referring to WOW, what they basically had to do was double that number of physical machines for their game, presumably because they didn't realize with any sort of factual numbers what kind of sign-ups they were going to have, which is a given that you won't know how many people are actually going to play for a fact.
