But the general arguement from vets as to why there is no disparity between vets and noobs is that 'the amount of SP makes little difference', so using that arguement...let people buy SP? Vets can't use that arguement when it benefits them and then flame the exact same arguement when it's used against them.
And who cares that the amount of high SP characters goes up? It doesn't change the fact that truely SP doesn't matter. What matters is how smart you are about making ISK, and how well you fly in pvp. Time in ship is what matters.
So the arguement against is basically 'we don't want noobs to catch up'? Or 'we want to be able to sell characters to noobs'? Doesn't sound like everyone is getting what they want. Sounds like vets get what they want, noobs get **** on.
BTW this char is from 2004. I would not buy SP for real money. I think spending more than the sub in any game is ******ed. Others would spend the money, and IMO that's fine with me. Doesn't change my experience at all. Actually it would probably keep people playing. I know many times the reason I've quit is because I'm bored of my current ships or whatever it is I was doing in the game and don't really want to sit around for 1 to 3 months or more waiting for my stupid SP to tick...tick...tick. Players cancel and probably never come back. Why would they? They still have the 1 to 3 months of waiting.
And subbing to a game for 1 to 3 months without ever logging in except to change skills is just a waste of RL time. Time nobody will ever get back. Time the person is probably just spending in some other game anyway. Maybe they'll get sick of waiting and never come back to EVE anyway. (I would think everyone would rather avoid that - mainly CCP) Let someone pay real money to gain back that RL time. Cut out the stupid 1 to 3 months of 'waiting in line', so to speak. If they aren't logging in anyway and instead just basically 'waiting it out', who cares that they spend maybe double or triple the sub cost to get rid of that stupid 'wait for no reason' mechanic?
And again, they're already doing that if they buy plex and then use that to buy an already built character.
So really the reason vets don't want this is they're selling characters to people.
Maybe instead what they could do is allow people to cut off chunks of SP learned from characters and sell that block of raw SP. Someone buys it with ISK, and then allots it to whatever character they like. Everyone's happy!
