Is there any barriers that prevent you from using capital weapons on a powergrid pimped Abaddon?

Yeah, the lack of powergrid.

While you can fit a capital gun or missile launcher on battleships, with all rcu's and rigs..... You will recieve this message.
"Cannot activate weapon due to wrong ship class" or something along those lines.
They can fit but will not fire.

Edited by: NoNah on 25/03/2010 03:43:48 No, lots of bs can use capital guns, and some are even remotely useful. Capital shield boosted maelstroms for example. Useless for pretty much anything, but hey, it can do it and it gets a bonus to it. Or citadel torp apocs.
And you can do the same thing to BC -> BS. Tachyon harbingers for example.
EDIT: Oh wait, they ruined that with those ship class restriction changes? Bastards! Parrots, commence!

Abbadon, All level V with +5% PG implant, 2x Ancillery II rigs, 1x Ancillery I, rig, all RCU II's in low slots:
PG : 106,657
Capital weapon powergrid: 125,000
It just don't fit.

I was able to stick the XL autocannon on an abaddon in eft. Not sure if it would give an error message. Can't see a reason to do it either, it does 99 dps and 672 volley w/o implants. It's like the tachyon harbinger. Sure you can do it but why would you want to?
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

Long ago it was possible to fit capital ship modules on frigates. This made for some fun ship spinning in stations: a Rifter fitted with guns bigger than the ship itself.
However, this also made it possible to ship crazy volumes of minerals using a carrier. Fit a frigate full of captital ship modules, stuff it in the carrier's ship maintance bay and recycle them at your destination.
To nerf that tactic the fitting of capital modules to sub-capital ships was prohibited: ◦Modules that have a volume of over 500 m3 can now only be fitted on ships that require the Capital Ships skill.

So your gonna blow, what 1-2 billion for an all out fit to get one module to load up...
I would LOVE to you actually present a screen shot of 7 officer Reactor Controlls from in game.
Cost prohibitive, and again, you only have 1 thing fitted.
It just doens't realistically fit. Not even remotely close... There is a difference between needing 1 or 2 officer modules to get a very specific, tight and complex fitting to work, its another to suppose or justify all officer modules for something like this.
It would probably take 2-3 months just to track down those officer modules much less earn the isk to buy them...
So yea, powergrid being the issue, it still just don't fit.

This fitting won't be a good idea, officer fit or otherwise. However, it doesn't NEED to be a capital laser on, could be a torp launcher or AC, they take 100k PG. So:

Well, considering a Citadel Torp/cruise launcher uses 90k PG with AWU5, it is very possible to fit one onto a abaddon with basic gear

Using 2 T2 ACR's, gets you enough PG then to fit a Capital Blaster or Capital AC. No officer/deadspace/faction gear needed. ------------------------

You used to be able to fit citadel torps, giga pulse, and i beleive the capitol autocannon on a pg pimped abbadon.
In fact you could even fill the rest of the slots with frigate guns and a weak shield tank on the giga pulse build.
What i dont know is if theres a class restriction now. But it used to get a a few pulse shots every few mins, and could fire citadels at standard rates.
