Could I theoretically pay someone with high standings to join my corp for one downtime to raise the corp standings to that faction immediately or would I have to wait a week, or would it just not work?
I need to know because I need amarr standings up to 5.0 for a high sec research pos...
Thanks

You'd have to have them in your corp for a week, as they are a new member to your corp.
Several people offer standing service. See the Sell Orders forum (I'd EVE-Search it)

You should also note that it's the AVERAGE standing of every no neutral player in the corp.
so if 2 people are 0.01 you need them to either leave the corp while it's done or get 2 people with high standings to join.

If it's just you in your corp as it is now, with your 3.11 standing, you need someone with at least a 6.9 unmodified Amarr to join your corp for at least 7 days to get your Amarr faction to 5.0.

Easiest way, if you don't care for WHICH corp you get standings ofcourse, is to find something NOONE has standings for. Then, tell any corpmates to keep it that way. Then get in someone with the standing you require, or assign someone in the corp to grinding them for yourselves. We've never actually tried to do this on purpose, but both my current corp and my previous one had corp standings high enough for jumpclones PURELY BY ACCIDENT at least once...
This works pretty well to get the standings for jumpclones, if that's your purpose. (Although watch out what corp you get the standings for in this case... Not all corps have stations with medical facilities...) Unlikely to work for purposes of a highsec POS, but it'll be hard enough to get your standings up for one without starting from an empty corp ANYWAY. Well he wants a POS and that needs faction standings which is a lot harder to avoid and increase than corp standings of course.
What can be done is to ask those with low standings to leave for a week or form a new corp for those with high enough standings, then invite the rest in after a week. This will get the POS up and fully working but will be an issue if it needs moving.
Here's a guide to it all Linkage
