This is one of the greatest games in existence, but the fonts are pretty mediocre.
I would love to see a drop-down box where I could pick my own font.
And in the default fonts, the letters are too close together. Try writing "IT" and it ends up looking like a mess.
Oh, well. Can't win them all. :)

Don't beat a dead horse. People have complained about fonts since the dawn of time and nothing has happened. But I agree, it's terrible :(

I would love to have some scale/font options too. It's a shame to have updated graphics behind a increasingly out of date UI. Today's HD displays shrink it to tiny eye-strain-o-vision levels.

Comes in different flavors, though. Brand name is "UI", with all the subtle, yet separate flavors, like "Fonts", "POS", "Science&Industry", etc... |

Considering all the things CCP gets right and beyond, it really never ceases to amaze me how they can miss obvious, no brainer, atarimae no koto kinda stuff like this.
I wonder if there's a dev blog somewhere explaining the reason for this among other things.  |

Aren't there options to increase the font size and spaceing for the various window text in the escape menu? I know there is a text increase size button on the chat windows to make the text increasingly bigger until you get letters that even a blind man could read from a mile away. Also the default size is absolutely perfect at 1920x1080 on my 42" lcd.

Yeah, and UI is some cases takes too much space. And I want drone control attached to BUTTONS. Like turrets or missiles. And I want ships not to align horisontally after i turn-off their engines - it's bull****. :D

in the dawn of time EVE had a pretty good looking serif font for stuff like warp drive & docking notifications...

The format that CCP use for the client font is about 30 years old, if not more - the only way to change the font is to replace it.
Thankfully fontforge (http://fontforge.sourceforge.net/) does support it. with a little bit of magic you should be able to replace it, but the jiggery pokery that you need to perform to get the .stuffs happy is quite sad :(
That said, its actually quite hard to find a good replacement font and make sure that it has all the characters etc, I think I have some screenshots of when I used to play (and used different fonts)

Unfortunately the Devs dont actually read the screens when(if) they play the game. Its a blind click process.
If I remember ,the font was 'designed' ( I use that term very very loosely ) and implemented for the Chinese explansion all those years ago ,so that both front ends are the same.
The complaints that arose were numerous - The first semi-official response from ccp was along the lines of " Its fine, get your eyes tested". The rendering engine was allegedly tweaked . but the phrase 'You cant polish a turd' was imho apt.
Mephysto : Was then used in 'operation no point'. And asked for screenshots of the fonts in action to be sent. with a promise to look into the problem.
Luckily it was initially accessible in the cache file in .pfb format. Making it relatively easy to change from several downloadable tweaked files.
This no doubt annoyed the Devs after all the ability to read a screen easily must be seen as an exploit.Thus it was locked away in the Res.stuff file . Where it still resides.
As has been previously posted. Getting the Res.stuff file happy to load was / is time consuming. especially as every patch since seems always to install a variant.
Font is called evesans btw.
Despite several reported rumours/reports of changes, nothing as yet has ever materialised. So holding ones breath should not be advised.
