Edited by: Entaran on 30/03/2010 09:21:26 Why anyone believes that steamrolling the NC will change anything is a tad confusing.
Key points: NC is a giant napfest. SC is a giant napfest and if not blue, full of unofficial non-invasion pacts.
Destroying the NC means what exactly? New alliances fill the space that are... blue to the SC? Blue to eachother? Who's paid IT billions already to put down deposits on regions they are supposed to conquer under contract? Does someone down there really think if you manage to boot RAWR/RZR + friends out of their home space they'll just disband and all the players will filter off into other alliances? Well done, I wish you guys were strategising for me. I would pay 1 isk for sure.
Does anyone here honestly believe deep down that any new alliances that fill the hole (assuming NC dies) will act in any manner other than the existing powerhouses down in the south? Tried and tested works, being neutral/red to your neighbours and fighting constant wars with them is not good business sense... and to be quite honest it's all about the isk. If all you cared about was the pew you'd play eve like burn eden does.
I hear multiple statements of it not being about sov or moons or anything, but the first things to get hit will be tech and r64 moons and reaction chains. Nobody is coming to have subcap wars, people just need to pay their sov bills.
Frankly I could care less which side wins or loses, at the end of the day the pvpers are bored and want something to do. That's all this really boils down to.
Oh and 6 months? Lol. 6 weeks maybe before everyone gets bored and goes home again.
PS. Feeding the trolls. PPS. Flame away. Expecting at least one "u mad", one "bitter" or variant and one "c u on teh battlefield" with a pirate smiley.

I do not think there is any real difference. What is happening now, is a result of two groups of corporations and alliances making deals. Using "full of..." does not change reality. Objectively, both blocks are a mix of non invasion and non-aggression pacts, and can be thought of as 'huge.'
Originally by: Entaran Destroying the NC means what exactly? New alliances fill the space that are... blue to the SC? Blue to eachother?
Hopefully invading or attacking will result in members on both sides having fun. If one or more entities collapse in the process, I am sure their members will find new homes. No one really dies in EVE - with a few exceptions
Originally by: Entaran Who's paid IT billions already to put down deposits on regions they are supposed to conquer under contract?
To my knowledge, no one has paid iT alliance to attack. If any such deal exist I am perfectly fine with it and so should you be.
Originally by: Entaran Does someone down there really think if you manage to boot RAWR/RZR + friends out of their home space they'll just disband and all the players will filter off into other alliances?
We needed a less collapse-prone opponent. A fair few of us were adamant we should attempt to find targets with a larger EU TZ component.
Originally by: Entaran Well done, I wish you guys were strategising for me. I would pay 1 isk for sure.
You are guessing what the opponent 'is thinking,' and using the result to project ridicule - highly speculative.
Originally by: Entaran Does anyone here honestly believe deep down that any new alliances that fill the hole (assuming NC dies) will act in any manner other than the existing powerhouses down in the south?
No. We are not liberating anything though. We are not installing a benevolent fairy entity that will make the place smell like flowers.
Originally by: Entaran Tried and tested works, being neutral/red to your neighbours and fighting constant wars with them is not good business sense... and to be quite honest it's all about the isk. If all you cared about was the pew you'd play eve like burn eden does.
Arguing the benefits of non-aggression pacts and extrapolating a 'true meaning of EVE' from it is wrong. If it is all about the ISK, I could argue that we should invade in order to take moons. Your personal preference may be Burn Eden, but I fail to see exactly why you picked them as an example.
Originally by: Entaran I hear multiple statements of it not being about sov or moons or anything, but the first things to get hit will be tech and r64 moons and reaction chains. Nobody is coming to have subcap wars, people just need to pay their sov bills.
The voices - do not listen to them. Prophetic guesses is still just guesses
Originally by: Entaran Frankly I could care less which side wins or loses, at the end of the day the pvpers are bored and want something to do. That's all this really boils down to.
But you DO care. You made a post. Your outlook could be less negative though.
Originally by: Entaran Oh and 6 months? Lol. 6 weeks maybe before everyone gets bored and goes home again.
Six weeks is a bit too long. I would guess four weeks. I am hoping for a longer conflict, and a chance to see two super-cap-blobs trash each other.

Why would you ask for flames. We in iT are not the trolling types. We are well-behaved, polite and always friendly. I have spoken to a fair few of our new members in x13, and their first impression is positive. "This is the best corporation I have ever been part of," is the word.

Wow, I do enjoy the flame wars, makes me feel warm and fuzzy when outside the blizzard strikes (Not really, but I need the imagery!). So lets do a little call back to sanity, and a little checklist, shall we?
1) No one invented blobs, they existed since hallowed antiquity, and they shall exist till the end. The only thing that changes is scale. All you trolls are ought to be ashamed with those accusations. People like to win, and blobing is usually a "You win" scenario. All those reminiscing on past days of small gang combat are just having nostalgia color it for them cheerfully.
2)The whole "NC gonna die" is a bit premature mates, also the "SC gonna lose" ain't that much of an accurate prediction. The truth is that no one knows the future, and speculations can be made from here to the moon about how this war will turn out. My suggestion is stop chest beating and flaunting insults and vacant promises, and just have fun. True, the NC survival is "Probably" hanging in the balance, but that doesn't mean we can't have fun blowing stuff up or getting blown up in turn.
3) The goal of the war is, in my fair viewpoint, unrealistic. MM and RZR are old entities that lived together and cooperated for years. Like any alliance they each had their rise and fall and reformation. They have pretty much cemented their position in the north, and I wouldn't envy any attacker trying to fight through their defenses. The rest of the NC alliances are sticking together as well. We understand this is a chance to fight in the biggest war in EVE history. Running away is not an option, and betraying is not even a viable option. We are here to see this through, one way or another.
4) Worse case scenario sees the NC alliances move to NPC space to weather the storm before kicking off anyone put in our place\squatters (filthy hobos!). Failcascade might happen to some alliances, but I don't really see it happening. Alot of these alliances carry much inertia and have strong bounds. If some do failcascade I think corporations will find home in remaining NC alliances.
5) I can't see IT and allies spending 6 months in the north. I can't really see any large entity risking absence for more than a couple of weeks from its territory. Lord knows there are alot of small entities in empire and low sec waiting for their chance for space and glory. This great war is a very good opportunity for the rise of new neutral powerblocks, built by new coming alliances. I don't see a continuous campaign of months, or weeks, maybe just a few roams and large fleet clashes once in a while, nothing too major.
In conclusion, its going to be a nice war, I look up to it as my first major null sec war. Whoever wins, wins. I am sure WI.dot and allies will remain after the dust has settled, if not in Branch, then in NPC venal.
Good luck to IT and pals, hope you have fun, but I'll be hoping also for your demise (Can't blame me for preferring the home team)
P.S
Yes, before you say it, I do care for the fate of what I grew accustomed to see as home, and to a group I've grown to considered allies and blues. I am not mad, I am not really here for trolling, just giving my own interpretation to the events unfolding. If you can't retort and\or add something constructive, keep that yap shut!

One sweet day in spring, Molle woke up to a grand day in the paradise they call Delve. Molle was very happy because his band of merry slappywags had finally succeeded in taking back their little slice of heaven which had been lost to a very disgruntled bad man who had touched a button inappropriately. It was a grand day, but his thoughts did then grow a little dark, for he had allways wished to be supreme leader of all of nullsec and there were bad people up north who had crushed his dreams. Oh every night he would cry himself to sleep. Now it was time to punish those bad men! So Molle went out into the world and along the way he met a fabulous talking dog named Bobby! Bobby was the alpha dog of a pack of woodland creatures, oh there were squrriels, foxes, little bunny rabbits and whatnot. "Gee Bobby," Molle said "will you and your woodland creatures be my cuddly pets and help me punish the bad men?". "Woof!" Bobby barked "yes, woof!". And off they went. Molles merry slappywags and Bobbys pack of woodland pets and a kitchen sink aswell to adventures the like noone have ever seen! To be continued!
Yours truely, BFF.
