Came across this little real time clothing simulation created by CCP. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mrtwESnTOwY
Amazing work by the way.
Anyway, the clothing style seems to jive more with the WoD setting, but the underlying tech could just as easily be applied to a Walking in Stations expansion. I'm not sure that the existing clothing really requires this kind of tech though. Eve portraits always seem to have kinds of clothing that look like they're supposed to be overly stiff. Like something you'd see in the 5th Element's costume closet.
In fact, given the rather moderate system requirements of rendering the inside of a station compared to a whole city/world, it seems like this would be better used in an EVE expansion rather than in WoD.
What does everyone else think?

WoD without a doubt, the whorish dated clothing suggests so. I truly hope CCP have updated the wardrobes in EVE some, I only have so many of this shirt and no pants to match.

That youtube vid is showcasing the tech that is going to be used for wis and wod. With the ironclad no info blackout that seems to be in effect for anything under development for eve it would make sense to use some neutral clothes to display the new fluid cloth and hair dymamics. This is also why I am currently recommending getting an nvidia card over the cheaper slightly faster ati cards as ati will not support this tech and will rely on the cpu to do the calculations. However wis is still going to be at least another year before we get anything we can actually play so plenty of time for nvidia to chop prices to compete for those with a limited budget.

But ATI offers more bang for the buck.
So it's kinda silly for CCP to not support industry leader's cards as more people will have those than nvidia ones if the current trend holds.
Although as you mentioned we will see how this goes. By the time it's relased it is possible that nvidia might have regained it's leadership position in gfx cards.

Wasn't there a devblog or something on this a few weeks ago? And i think a big kadoodle about it at either Fanfest or that game-show a few months back?
It's for Incarna/WiS, something tells me we'll see an increase in female characters... Signature removed for editing moderator warning. Zymurgist |
