recenly got a new Windows 7 PC full spec is:
Core i7 2.8 o/c to 4 Ghz 6GB RAM Radeon 5970 Win 7 Home 64 Bit OS 2 1920 x 1080 monitors
Everything has been running fine in the three days since the system been up and running, I even had 2 clients running simultaneously without any trouble, each one running at c. FPS in station with all the GFX settings cranked up to the max. Today, booting up a single client locks my machine. I get the splash screen and after about 15 seconds everything freezes. I'm doubting that this is a hardware problem as the system is quite happy running Crysis at high detail and doesn't even break into a sweat. I'tried a full client reinstall and if anything that's made it worse. The only thing that was changed in the client setings that may (or may not, I dunno) be relevant is that I switched from Windowed to full screen mode and back again, to see if that made things any easier regarding Win 7's tedious habit of not letting you put the top of the screen bar over the top of the monitor. Any ideas? I've spent most of my morning on this and about ready to reach for a hammer such is my frustration. cheers H

Nice System Specs BTW.
I did have a similar problem and I found a solution to the problem and downloaded ATI Fusion and ran the on-line gaming profile, this shut down quite a few windows 7 services running in the background and sped up my clients, I found after doing this I didn't have the problem any more whether I ran ATI fusion or not.http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_fusion.aspx?p=1
hope this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it, but unfortunately Fusion claims that ' No valid AMD technology was detected so the application will now exit'. Either I'm doing something wierd or something v strange is going on here. Thanks for trying to help though, much appreciated. cheers H

ATI Fusion is only for AMD processors. Tried it to, on my Core I7 860 and got same error message as you did.
