Good idea! CCP read THIS before you change something into crap again. Your community has the better ideas! "Unified Welcome Mail" is much better than the "unified inventory". |

While this is very useful indeed, we (and I would think most) use this for more up-to-date information, such as planned events, and not for more static information such as voice comm details, base of operations, website address, etc... MOTD stands for Message of the Day, suggesting more dynamic text should be put here.
Mailing lists have a welcome mail which is automatically sent out when you join, why can't corps? :)
Yes you could simply link to a forum thread in the MOTD which contains a 'welcome mail', but how do they know how to register on the forums (API registering confuses the [insert explicit word] out of some people), or who to contact if they have any issues right away. Plus, once you've been in a corp for a few years, who wants to log in everyday to see the same old message which doesn't relate to you.
This isn't me laying into you, simply taking the opportunity to further explains the reasons why this would be so useful.

I shalt +1 this as well. Brilliant idea, should go along with all the corp interface changes they're thinking of doing.
As the wise Yahtzee once said, "EVE's interface could be more intuitive if you were looking at your monitor from the bottom of a ******* well." and this is one of those areas. I still have yet to figure out how to use most of the corp management interface, and bulletins are kinda useless considering there's no notification for people that they have been up and it's not the first place people look for the info.(Usually corp mails, mumble or elsewhere.) |

Thanks for all the support guys (and gals), I know it was hardly this thread alone which did it, but we are getting welcome mails, so woo!

Nutbolt wrote:I have seen this posted a couple of times, but all the threads are locked and buried (so can't bump them etc...). Mailing lists have the option to add a Welcome mail so when a player joins they get sent a mail which can contain useful information etc... Often corps send out welcome mails whenever a new person joins, however this can get tiring and relies on a 'recruitment officer' to send the mail manually. For bigger corps, such as RvB this must be annoying and I know I would much prefer it if it could be automated. Members already get mails/notifications when they are accepted into a corp, and Welcome Mails already exist for Mailing Lists, so hopefully it wouldn't be too hard to add Welcome Mails for when someone joins a corp. Implementation:
- Add a new tab to the Recruitment tab in the Corp Management UI named Welcome Mail.
- People with the Personnel Manager or Communications Officer role have the rights to change this mail.
- The ability to link characters, Systems, Stations and URLs (URLs you can't link from the standard right click --> Autolink option).
Use bulletins. Use notepad and cut-n-paste. Is this 1975?
"Mailing lists have a welcome mail which is automatically sent out when you join, why can't corps?"
Make a corp mailing list.
Thank you. |
