I have been away from EVE for a few months, and came back and wanted to make a decent drake fitting for PvE. I've been to 0.0 with this and it can tank several BS rats, not so sure how special that is to be honest... Anyway, without further Ado, here's my fit.
[Drake, PvE] Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Shield Power Relay II Damage Control II
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II Shield Recharger II
Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile Advanced 'Limos' Heavy Missile Bay I, Scourge Heavy Missile [empty high slot]
Medium Core Defence Field Purger I Medium Core Defence Field Purger I Medium Core Defence Field Purger I
Hobgoblin II x5
the 3 Large Shield Extender II's give it a huge capacity of almost 15k in shields. with my skills it can tank about 750 DPS. The Invuln II's can be swapped for a mission / rat specific hardener. DPS is lacking. You need some decent fitting skills to run this. All in all, a nice solid fit for missions and 0.0 / losec ratting.
So what do you guys think of it?
I'm not a noob, nor am I a hardened war veteran, I'm just a pilot who's mind can think faster than his hands can type. Thus I look like a ****** over 76.1% of the time. |

Terrible. Generic useless-brick Drake. Crap damage and overtanked. Badly overtanked, too. If you're going to go down the passive SPR Drake route, the Damage Control is pointless. Shield Rechargers are crap.
For L4s, it's painfully slow because of awful DPS. For L3s, it's pointlessly overtanked. Lowsec ratting is a bad idea full stop.

0.0 rats are easy, IMO better to just go for a buffer fit with more DPS (at least 2 BCS and full rack of HML 2s) and an MWD (you can reduce a lot of dmg just by keeping range for a bit) Whole spawn will be dead before you're in any serious danger

Change damage control and one of the shield power relays to a ballistic control unit. should give you more deeps to finish missions faster.
if you are taking too much dmg, warp out and toss on another power relay, but usually you can take out a few ships to drop damage to an acceptable level before your shield goes down too far.
mission specific hardeners highly recommended, maybe even use the shield recharge slot to put on another hardener that is mission specific of the resist you have less of

Thanks for the criticism.
Only reason I have the Advanced Limos launchers is because HML V hasn't finished up quite yet. It was half-way done when I resubbed and am widling away at it now.
The DC was on there just so I didn't get screwed over TOO bad if I didn't get to warp soon enough. Yet I've been running L3-4 and I haven't had to warp except on a Gurista extravaganza...
I did some checking (for sheer amusement) and by using T2 rigs with about another month of training it will be able to passively tank 1000+ dps... Seeing as how T2 rigs are an arm and a leg, I think I'll just train the skills and sae the rigs for later :D I'm not a noob, nor am I a hardened war veteran, I'm just a pilot who's mind can think faster than his hands can type. Because that one open slot makes all the difference, and there are thousands of things you could put in that one open slot... ------- "Because the Dominix is the Chuck Norris of Eve!" |

:(, you can rat and do level 3's in a pvp fit buffer drake so there's no reason to make a passive one at all.

Null sec BCS x2 PDS DCU
2x invul 1x lse 1x mwd 1x web 1x scram
7 x hmls
3x cdfe
for missions, drop the mwd, web and scram, add tank. drop pds/dcu add bcs' to taste.
NB: drake can carry 5 light drones. frigates dislike them. imo tp on a drake is not necessary

Edited by: Rapture001 on 02/04/2010 12:39:54 I used a buffer tanked fleet drake in Curse. It's good enough for common belt rats.
A belt with 3 BS rats (more than 1m bounty each) is harder to kill and to tank. 3x 1.4m blood raider BS rats in Querious & PB are nastier. Then swap DC for SPR and if needed add purger rigs.
Basic layout: 7x HML II 1x utility slot (salvager? small neut/nos?)
1x microwarp 1x utility slot (warp disruptor for some tackle or sensor booster for fast lock or shield hardener or ...) 2x shield hardeners 2x shield extenders
3x BCS II 1x utility slot (DC II for more buffer or SPR)

I used a similar fit to that one out in G-5 and neighboring systems. I didn't know where the good ratting spots were. I coult tank 3+ <1m bounty rats. I jumped into a belt and found a faction spawn with 3 other BS's with 1.2 or so, I was very mad that it took me so long to complete it, and once I killed the faction person, a covops decloaked and scooped my loot :(
I went out there yesterday and had no trouble with any number of rats in my new fit. The regen and buffer was simply through the roof and I never really dropped below 45-40% shields. I'm not a noob, nor am I a hardened war veteran, I'm just a pilot who's mind can think faster than his hands can type. Thus I look like a ****** over 76.1% of the time. |

If it's for ratting/anomalies and you plan on running away from any PVP danger then my suggestion would be
Lows: swap Shield Power Relay II & Damage Control II for two BCUII Mids: swap Shield Recharger II for an AB High: Salvager in the spare top slot
Bene Gesserit is recruiting. |

And yet in the months after RMR first came out that was a pretty standard fit.
Of course, that was four years ago. A few things might have changed since then....
