i was under the impression that any faction wartarget in hostile space will be attacked by the Navy on every grid eventually. Seems that is not quite the case, and according to a GM response i had it is not an exploit either. So this is just a heads up for people think they will get Navy support. This is what happened to me:
I missioned in Motsu in my Golem. I was followed by a neutral frigate user who obviously scouted me out in my mission. Then a wartarget (fwguy) warped into my mission and attacked me in a typhoon. I managed to drive him off, but i did not see any support from the navy during the 120 seconds fight. Attached the convo with the guy after the fight:
[21:51:08] fwguy > greetings [21:51:10] Executus Primus > hows that typhoon [21:51:20] fwguy > hurting like a walrus [21:51:33] Executus Primus > how exactly did you evade the navy? [21:52:01] fwguy > thorough experimentation. i suggest you try it out in minnie/gal space to discover the secret [21:52:18] Executus Primus > i see
I don't mind fighting wartargets in caldari space, though i was under the impression that i would get support from the navy.
GM just said something about "concord cant be anywhere".

Why would they lock it? I edited all names out and just want to discuss some game mechanics?

Edited by: Slade Trillgon on 01/04/2010 22:28:32 If I recall correctly Faction Navy and Customs ships are only on gates and do not spawn like CONCORD in regular systems. But I am unfamilair with the concept that Faction navy ships acting differently in faction warfare space.
EDIT: Remove all mentioning of GM correspondence and your thread will avoid lockage.

That is not my experience though, they did spawn on stations for example when we entered hostile space. Maybe they just don't enter mission grids? If they don't, it is pretty much a free ganking ticket, since the navy cant really stop anyone from moving through space.

You, my friend, have been served a plate of copy pasta. CONCORD is NOT the same as faction navy.

I think the mechanic is that only so many wartargets trigger a navy spawn and after that limit is reached they don't spawn anymore leaving a smart player free and clear to pop you. As was stated above experiment to see exactly how to do it.

This.
Navy usually does follow you into a mission area.

Edited by: Dr Karsun on 02/04/2010 11:18:31 THIS what you are describing has been succesfully planned... Threw many hours of experiments put into life... And noted... And even sent to the gms... Who failed to recreate the situation... Over a year ago when I lost my navy ship in high sec while in faction war. And it's supposedly a feature ^^ Also supposedly removed with some patch along the way. So good job to the people who managed to do it again. Or bad job to the people who thought it's fixed.
Nothing new :) Move along and try to work a bit and you'll manage to move entire 40 people gangs avoiding military.
I sense hulk deaths and nice faction-fitted pve bs kms soon again. Yummy.

Stop looking at my screen, cheater
Back on topic: No, navy ships will not warp in and save you during a mission. Neither will CONCORD as FW works like a permanent wardec. The guy who attacked you probably did nothing more than travel to Motsu in a pod/shuttle and had a neutral alt move the typhoon to him in a SS, thus avoiding the sentries and navy on the gates.

Is this comment due to actual experience, or are you talking out of your *ss ? Because everytime i go to gallente space the navy attacks everywhere eventually, not only on the gate. If the navy worked as you described it would be entirely pointless, because who the hell cares about some npc ships at a gate who don't scram. Faction warfare would be all over highsec.

Confirming navy will follow you all over the solar system unless it has been arranged that they do not.

Follow is not the same as spawn though. As someone said earlier if they only spawn at gates and stations it will be easy to avoid them at a mission.

This is old trick. Had you been pay attention, you would see more wt in system. Other wt were keep navy occupied while ganker went to try kill you. See, fw navy not like concord. Fw navy is limited spawn, limited damage. Fw spawn can even be tanked. If someone is to tank fw spawn, all other enemy wt who come in system get free run. This is by design as gm says. Stupid, but by design.

What I want to know is how does a PvP ship not kill a PvE ship currently tanking a mission?
