News Disclaimer: The following post has been provided to you in an effort to capture the war from both sides with a fair lack of bias. Obviously, for those involved in EVE, bias is a given, so accept the following as whatever you wish. I wouldn't ask for otherwise. I am not neutral in this conflict, but would like to provide a neutral viewpoint.
War has broken out in the North, with the great Northern Coalition facing the invading forces of the Southern Coalition. The Northern Coalition, comprised primarily of Morsus Mihi, RAZOR Alliance, the Tau Ceti Federation, Mostly Harmless, and Majesta Empire, has done an interesting job defending - pushing back primary assault forces and maintaining their ground. Early battle reports have cost the Southern Coalition (IT Alliance, The Initiative, RED.OverLord, Black Star Alliance, and Atlas Alliance). An early battle in the system X-7OMU cost the Southern Coalition almost fourty billion in losses.
The South brought seven titans and sixteen supercarriers to the battle, while the North brought only two titans and five supercarriers. The North took out one of the motherships, a Wyvern piloted by Sidius Aldar, at approximately 00:37 ET. The loss amounted to about fifteen billion isk, according to battle reports released by IT. The loss was hailed as a major victory for the Nothern Coalition.
However, nuetral military experts who have requested anonimity have noted that the battle was not as large of a victory as the North might have believed. The Northern Coalition lost over 100 battleships during the fight, with the South losing less than half that amount. The experts noted that the true path of a war is often determined by the battleship losses, which are often not subsidized by the Alliances. "These ships come out of the pockets of the pilots", noted the anonymous war expert, "eventually, the pilots will be less willing to lose ships, and then they'll be less willing to join the fight. A single supercarrier destruction might be a temporary moral boost, but it won't win them the war".
The fight continues in X-7OMU, with the North still beating back the South. Although the bragging and celebrating continues among the Northern forces, the same experts noted that this war is one of "attrition". "The South has the advanced war capability that many of the less PvP-oriented pilots in the North lack. They need to remove the enemy completely quickly, or the roaming gangs of IT will eventually wear down and destroy the North".
However, preliminary battle reports still have the North in the lead, with the IT killboard reporting only a 31% efficiency in the X-7OMU system alone (47.8 billion killed / 105.1 billion lost). Military experts still suggest that "IT and SC battle reports will improve - the North still has quite a war to fight".
So, do the North have a reason to celebrate? "Certainly", said one military expert, but "the North also still have reason to fear. The wheels of war have started turning and the South won't give up until the North is burning".
In related news: CAOD has broken out into tactical debate, with the new question posed, "Is local smacktalk a viable strategy?", with Homo Erectus of IT Alliance suggesting that, indeed, local talk has proven it viability in the past as a method of intimidation, as well as providing several examples of the Northern Coalition employing its own tactic.
The Privateer Alliance has also reset standings, offering its services as an empire disruption service for just the cost of "the war dec". The Alliance commented further that "the only side we choose is the side of isk".

Duly noted. Will note this in my next report.
IT spies report that only three or four members (Molle and his alts) have more than 1m sp. Motherships are piloted by multiple pilots at the same time. This was the reason for their loss - confusion and misdirection among the five pilots in the Wyvern.

I'd be very interested in seeing those numbers backed up, for the very simple reason that I can't get them to add up. What I can gather from our own sources is that we killed close to 70 or 80 bs and lost 30 or so bs, during the entire 1st of april.

I took those numbers off of the IT board - which was the board that my sources were also using, hence I picked it. I cross referenced those numbers with the MM killboard as well, so hopefully they were slightly accurate. There is, however, always the problem when friendly get hit by friendly fire, which often has the tendency to count a ship on both sides. I assume they are fairly accurate, but if you want to add them up yourself, go to http://killboard.executive-outcomes.info, find the battle that is relevant to all of this, and add up the losses. It is very conveniently organized.

Let me tell you a little story. About 2 months ago, when we first moved to Syndicate, A Dead Terrorist guy convo'd me, sperging out about how CH was going to kill one of their tech moons that night, begging for our help. We, of course, were in no shape to do so, so I politely declined.

Just a quick question, Why SC take on X-7omu and not a NC system with an outpost? A good NC system with outpost in my opinion is EC-P8R that connect to 0.5 sytem (Torrinos)? By taking out that system from NC, it cut out part of the major supply route for NC. At the same time it's easy for SC to supply the system with ships and modules, a good staging position for caps, and easy for industrial ships to resupply the outpost with their losses.
I still think SC made the wrong choice by taking x-7 because it's hard for them to contain NCs and hard to def the system because NCs can use guerrilla styles to hit and run and hide in npc stations.
By taking EC-p8r, SC just need to control Torrinos gate in EC-p8r system. That way, SC can keep baiting NC and kill them bit by bit, and NC can't hide anymore. This gives the freedom for small SC fleets to roam and hit other places.
At the same time, SC should take out another system about 10 jumps away. That way it will split the NC forces, and make them disorganize at the early stage of the war.
That's my opinion anyway
