So... I'm looking for a ship to probe out solo people, hold them down, and then have a gang warp in and deliver to them a swift kicking.
Now I'd prefer to use a recon for this, but it continually seems that t3 are more reliable. Jamming seems pretty good, so does RSD, even tracking disruptors are something. Thing that bothers me is that you never know who is sporting the counter mods, or who might have some nasty drones or whatever. So i keep thinking I may just as well put together a 200k ehp cloaky t3, which nothing can solo could have a hope in hell of killing before my gang shows up.
Any thoughts on what ships are best ?

For prober/quick-tackle + warp-in point, just use a Cov Ops. If you fit them correctly, they are far more durable than people give them credit for. Especially vs mission running BSs which it sounds like you are targeting.

I'm more thinking wormhole dwellers, which means keeping the gang out of system until its kill times, which is why im bothered about being durable enough to survive.

T3 then.
A covops or a Recon would just melt under Sleepers fire if it was to be targeted :D

Three options - covops, T3, recons. Main factors are tank, probe strength and survivability vs. cost-of-loss.
Covops. Probe strength bonus, rapid lock. Weak tank, but cheap so loss is bearable. Negligible DPS. Recons. No probe strength bonus. Better tank, but Sleepers hate recons. Arazu can tackle from a nice range, ewar options as well. Low DPS. T3s. Probe strength bonus, best tank, best DPS, most painful to lose.

So which t3 d'ya think ? It seems that there's almost nothing to separate them out if you need to fit the covert AND probe subsystems...
Have been trying to get a proteus fit that can fit the long range point subsystem AND a probe launcher, but it seems to near impossible without 2 or more co-pros which is a *****.

Do you absolutely need to be able to be cloaked while warping? You might consider just using a prototype cloak.

--------- Is a setup I've used in the past. I'am quite partial to just going faction web+faction point and locus subsystem instead, you got the range anyhow with thoose and you dont have to shell out for faction hards/anps instead as well as actually being able to probe things alot better. Remember some exile... And yeah this thing is meant to be under a wee bit of fire while waiting for buddies to make it over.

I'd probably just go for a buffer-tanked covops Proteus even T2 fit, nobody is going to kill you fast enough
/eftwarrior something like:
[Proteus, covops probing wormhole warrior] 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Imperial Navy Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane Armor Explosive Hardener II
Warp Disruptor II Warp Scrambler II Stasis Webifier II 10MN Afterburner II

Medium Trimark Armor Pump II Medium Trimark Armor Pump II Medium Trimark Armor Pump II
Proteus Defensive - Augmented Plating Proteus Electronics - Emergent Locus Analyzer Proteus Engineering - Power Core Multiplier Proteus Offensive - Covert Reconfiguration Proteus Propulsion - Gravitational Capacitor
might work decent, and just have someone in your gang fit some remote armor reps to fix you up afterwards

Thats pretty much exactly the fit I've been looking at ... over 200k ehp, good tackle, fast on the probing... It just seemed that recons were so much more elegant... so you don't even get shot at :(

Arazu does this perfectly. If you are probing out solo PVE types tackle from silly range, damp them so they can't lock, and just sit there til your pals come in. You will ofc want Recon V/max probe skills/advanced damp skills etc.
**edit**if you have backup....~protip~don't launch drones in WH til backup arrives

What you have described sounds pretty much like what the Arazu is intended to do, however, if you don't like relying on RSDs to keep you safe, just fit a 200k buffer Proteus and laugh as the target tries to do damage to you.

Plus while 3 RSDs might keep you safe from the target, they don't really do so much against any Sleepers you might also run into. Proteus definitely the best choice for WHs.
