i heard in the latest expansion they made it easier for new players to create a character but from what i ve seen they made every character start with very few skills so they need to pay for an extra month till they reach basic skills. i made a gallente that is supposed to be good at drones and i need around 5-6 days to reach drone skill to lvl 5. and then another 5 days to reach scout drone operations to lvl 5, with the old way it was so much better you at least could use a few things immidiately instead of needing 10 days to get basic skills... and i havent seen anything more new user friendly...

By starting out with less skills, you get more skillpoints to customize your character. Since the bonus skillpoint multiplier goes up to 1.6 million SP, by starting off with 60k SP rather than 600kSP, you get a bigger window to take your character in the direction you wanted. Otherwise, you may start off with several skills that you don't even want/need for your character.

Drones skills at 5 are considered essential skills needed for basic play as a new character? That's news to me...

I'd also say that things like the mission chains that explain dying, equip players with ships, weapons, skills, and inform them of potential sources of income, etc. are pretty user friendly. My brother recently joined up. I was surprised at how user friendly it was compared to when I started--essentially a small grid where you mined something, shot something, then got ejected into an area full of scammers.

The old "This is how you shoot" "This is how you mine" and then dumping you was awesome tho. That and seeing aswdaswaswwwwwwsasd in rookie chat :D

Basic Skillpoint Maths 101
2 Newbies are created together, but due to some reason I can't be bothered to make up, one ends up with the old system and one ends up with the new system
Old Newbie starts with 800k will skills roughly useful but alot of Chaff New Newbie starts with bugger all but gets a 100% Bonus for the first 1.6mil and can specialise straight off the bat
Which one will reach 1.6mil first? Neither, Old newbie will train 800k of skills in the time New Newbie trains 1.6mil of skills because the New Newbie is getting 2x the SP.
Which one will get into a Mining Barge first? New Newbie as they can specialise and target the skills to get into a barge right of the bat at 100% bonus, while Old Newbie will take longer to get those same skills (give or take what Old Newbie starts with)
Also a new player can comfortably fit a frigate for lv1's within 2 days, and a cruiser which can do level 2's within a fortnight, or can have a mining barge within a fortnight, or Production Eff. within a week which is more than reasonable

New Newbie should use his 2x training for learning skills. Waste it on mining barges, and he'll start to fall behind on everything else very soon thereafter. -- Gorgeous, delicious, deculture! |

new player will reach 1.6 mil drastically faster, due to speed increase in training his learning to IV/III (i wouldn't recommend more to player till they hit 3 mil SP) _______________________ We come for our people! |
