Hey guys me and a friend have decided that we would like to entertain the idea of renting a system in nullsec. That in itself isn't the reason for this post. We have been looking into this one system which happens to be a -0.3 system our biggest concern here is that the system in which we currently live is a -0.8 system and with that we are worried that the anoms within the system wouldn't be as great. Now I have a little bit of understanding when it comes to Ihubs and that with them you can significantly upgrade a system through it. What I am wondering here is what would be the difference between a -0.3 system upgraded to the max in military to a -0.8 system also upgraded to the max level possible?

The difference would be significant. Even fully upgraded -0.3 systems offer little to no higher-end sites in them, and those that do spawn occur at random and rather infrequently.
No wonder really that much of Nullsec is under-used. |

dont even bother to go for a -0.3 if you are renting. At least get a -0.5 You may aswell pay a bit more and get a tone of isk from it rather than risking getting splinter under the nail as you scratch the bottom of the barrel! |

This.
Anything below -0.6 is only good for hardcore mining, so unless you want to take up mining...

Havens, sanctums, etc. You won't get them in a -0.3
But you want to be a dumb renter so who cares?
Dude, don't rent. Join an alliance instead. It's more work, you have to police your space, you have to you know - contribute. But renters are the lowest class of citizen in nullsec. -0.3 is really crappy space. Even fully upgraded to level 5 you're not going to get much in terms of sites, especially if you're used to a -0.8. And as a renter expect to be farmed for kill mails by the nearest neutrals. When you scream for help no one will come, because no one will give a damn. Until you stop paying the rent, then you will be shown the way out.
Once a renter, always a renter. |

I guess I wasnt very clear. We do plan on joining an alliance but as part of the alliance were expected to pay a rental fee for the system. But judging by what you guys are saying then its not worth renting and that we would be better served finding a -0.6 or better system to rent.

Dont rent, find a proper alliance for your corp instead. Just expect to actually have to contribute to the defense of whatever region you live in and/or deploy with your alliance. |

Alliance "rental" fee? Look for another alliance. I've heard of alliance maintenance fees - those are necessary for paying sov bills, upgrades, etc. It's usual for every corp to have to fork over "x" per month to an alliance. But a "rental" fee implies something else. Renters are usually guaranteed "exclusive" use of a system and only that system, in exchange for ISK. Whereas in a "normal" alliance you can use all alliance sov space at any time. You are however expected to contribute heavily to defending it, and participate fully in any alliance ops. |

Forget renting man. Renters get treated even worse than pets. If you don't want to play blob warfare with 400+ man gangs in SOV nul, there is always NPC nul. NPC nul has more goodfights, and no fees to live there. |

I suppose you referring to null system owned by npc's but how can you settle those systems and mind you business without being in danger all the time? I mean anybody can come over and ruin your day or even take over the system without any warning. Also, can you run PI in a npc system while the sovereignty is not yours? |

This, don't rent.
Participation for "x" amount because JB's, sov structures, POS etc need people and stuff to work ok, rent for billions something that belongs to the first jumping a large fleet in, it's just plain silly and the oldest scam in eve after jita scumbags.
If playing Eve is not your first job, just go away from there and shoot them while leaving.

Yes you can run PI, but you can for what it's worth control NPC null systems quite easily.
Hell, half of them are empty anyway. Just move in to some back water little system, kill the occupants until they go away and kill anyone who comes to visit.
Obviously the disadvantage being no station lockouts and no large alliance or blue network for backup.

This applies to low sec and sov space as well. What you think just because it says {youralliancehere} in the top left under the system name, you are safe? Exactly how long do you think it takes someone like -A-, NC. or the goons to kick you out if they want to? When they drop 20 Nyxes on the field and bridge in 40 subcaps there really is nothing you can do except watch your sov get taken - fast.
EVE is a dangerous place. If you are afraid of being in danger all the time then don't undock. Certainly don't leave high sec.
In NPC null you really don't have anything to lose. Yeah it's full of neuts. Sov space gets roamed regularly too. Even more often when the mil and industry indexes go up, or when lots of kill mails are obtained from your area. But as has been pointed out, in NPC space you will never be locked out of a station. Camped in one, yes. Locked out - never. |
