I love it, it's like a using Windows except it only has a possibility of losing your files whereas eventually Windows will lose your stuff no matter what.
This also has reminded me that I need to put Linux on my PS3, I tried putting it on my laptop but I R NOOB and don't have a clue.

Windows itself doesn't lose your data, losing your data more commonly comes from just an outright hard disk failure which is generally not the fault of the OS.

This game is different from normal Linux console use how? 
This reminds me, it's that time of the year. I need to do a new Gentoo install from minimal to atone for my sins.

I'd say most data loss comes from running as root/admin and getting infected with Virus-of-the-Week.

If you have updated to the latest patch (3.21 I believe), the other OS option is gone, thanks to vocal hackers figuring out how to crack and hack PS3 games through the partition.

Geohot responds to Sony's removal of OtherOS.
I can't agree that Geohot is the one that screwed everyone's fun. IMO, it was Sony. At this point, with all the information to be gotten from the hyporvisor dump already dumped, what's there to gain by turning off OtherOS? I paid good money for a PS3 that, among other things, also allows me to install a Linux. That openness is one of the reasons I didn't buy an XBox360 instead. If I want to keep the option to use OtherOS, I now have to lose the option of playing the games that start requiring 3.21 and up.
I for one am going to wait and see if Geohot can manage to create a CFW that keeps OtherOS.

That is ridiculous and as Paknac mentioned, part of the PS3's appeal was the ability to install another operating system on it. Rarely do I get ****ed off with Sony but this is one of those times.
