w00t w00t just picked up a basilisk this morning after training logistics lvl 4. Now here's the question. I know that people say the only way to use a Basilisk is by using a team of them spider capping each other. Problem is Caldari militia doesn't have many (if any) logistics pilots. The question I propose is how I can get a solo fit going. Solo as in, I'm the only one repping. I hear that the Schimitar can do it, but can I get something similiar working for the Basilisk.

Something similar I suppose is possible..
The reason people go for the scimitar is it's quick. Even with an afterburner if needed and you'll never come close to that with your basilisk. The reason the basilisk shines in pairs (like the guardian) is because then it can use it's many high slots for RR (5x shield, 1x energy, in pairs). Nothing is stopping you from only fitting/using 3 shielders.
You can fit a decent tank on a basilisk, but it will be slow and significantly easier to hit than a scimitar. If you are serious about doing solo logi for your gangs, you should really consider getting minmatar cruiser 5.

What kind of tradeoffs are involved between the Basi and the Scimi in the context of shield-tanked BS gangs clearing high-end Sleeper complexes in wspace?

As said above, Basi for working in pairs and the Scimitar for solo. The Scimitar doesn't get the Energy transfer range and cap use bonus of the Basi so it has to rely on its own on board cap generation. It however has an almost frig sized sig radius and can easily top 800 ms with an Ab, 2k ms with mwd.
It also has 4 lows vs only 2 on the Basi so room for speed/cap mods and a Dcu.
For small gangs with turret weapons its 60km range tracking link bonuses are great as well.

You can get a solo fit but it would be that gimped you would die quickly, you need a partner for a basi.
solo basi is only good for pos reppin, with a partner they are fabulous.

1 * photon scattering T2
2 * invul T2
1 * eccm projector t2, use this on your partner.
1 * 10mn afterburner T2

1 * anciliary power ( PG rig)
1 * core extender rig ( Shield)
If you have both logi 5 you can use 1 energy transfer and 5 shield
Scimitar.

65m sig radius and 865m/s, cap stable with everything running with logi 5 and relative supports to 4, you need 2 ships to fit eccm projector T2 and target you, drakes are great for this, stops you from getting jammed, helluva tank compared to the basi but the basi has his mate to extra tank.
