I have recently started training a mining alt after biomassing the mission runner than one lived in that slot (I know, I must be mad) I think my training plan is complete but I am a bit unsure as to what processing skills I mah want. Last I heard, Veld was on top as far as hisec ores were concerned and so I am training veld processing. Is this still the case or have some other ores become profitable again, should I train any of the other processing skills ?
Thx ![Very Happy](/images/icon_biggrin.gif)

Do schools no longer teach people how to research? At the very least, use Google ffs... -----------------------------------

Just get ore specific processing skills for all of them to compensate for mineral value changes.
Get 6.67 standing with an NPC corp or two, find a factory they have with 50% return.. then you just need lvl 5 refining, lvl 4 refinery effciency, lvl 1 (all hi-sec ore type) processing for 100% returns. Then all sets for maxiumizing hi-sec ores.

Yeah I'm sorry man, I have been researching mining from scratch and all I found was that people were saying veldspar was the most profitable, but i just wanted to check that was current as I have sooo much new info going round my head. I think considering I've never mined at all before, only checking on this one bit of info isn't so bad, I found out everything else for myself on teh internets.
thanks to th other guys for the tips, will look at scord and also improving my standings.

Hey Ze,
I just started mining myself and so far it seems, that, once you can fit Strip Miners and use a Mining Barge, Veldspar is the ore that brings in the most quantity. It also only refines into Tritanium, which, above all, is from a percentage point of view, the material ships are made out of the most. Second seems to be Pyerite, and that comes in relatively huge volumes from Scordite. Having said that, Scordite is in fact the top contestant to mine in high-sec.
Of course ships are not only made out of Trit and Pyerite... this is where you have two options.
You can either mine everything else in high-sec, although this will take time as the other ores don't come in that high quantities per cycle, as it seems (this can obviously be amended upwards a bit by training Mining Barge to 5 and using mining implants).
Since some minerals are hard to come by, you can mission-mine. Meaning run missions, loot the wrecks and pray that no ninja-salvager has that idea first, haha. You then refine the loot. This also takes time but it is one way to get it in high-sec.
Just my 2 cents, correct me if I'm wrong.

With all the applications and spreadsheets available that will tell you all about mining income and production requirements how can you NOT know what to mine.
All you have to do for the most part is know what the mineral prices are in your local area and voila
