Sites trying to sell you ISK making guides for RL money would imho usually classify as "untrusted".
Could you explain why?
I can!
There are hundreds, if not thousands of sites which will sell you an email attachment full of PDF or html files to accomplish some seemingly impossible feat. Earn money in EvE, get to level 70 in WoW, achieve a perfect six-pack, earn money through Google ads. Nearly every one of these guides or sales pitches will claim to be the ultimate, the best, will list numerous testimonials, they're all basically the same thing. I once found a website that taught you how to properly make just such a sales website.
When you are one of the unlucky ones who buy the guide, or one of the other people who find it on thepiratebay, you quickly find out that there's nothing in their guide you couldn't find on your own. The only thing these people do is take the information and organize it into a pdf file. Is that worth $25? Is that worth $10? How much is he charging for the guide? If the guide has existed for more than six months, how valid is the information contained within now?
The reason the ultimate guide, as well as any other guide sold in a similar fashion (for any product or service) is considered untrustworthy is the same reason you don't give your ISK to new people in Jita who say they'll send back double. If the previous 100 people scammed you there's a good chance the next 100 people will scam you as well.
I highly doubt the ultimate guide admits that all the information within is obtainable through forum and google searching, he probably states something about how he found the ultimate secret to moneymaking, you can cash in on untouched markets and never rely on sell orders which can take too long. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe the ultimate guide really DOES tap into some secret ultimate power that can make any EvE player rich. Maybe he really DID quit EvE and wants to give away the secrets of earning money - but where else have we heard about people who quit EvE and want to share their wealth with everyone else? Oh, we're back to Jita again.
My mother bought one of those earn money selling Google ads packages for $50 several years ago. Everything in that package could be found in Google. A friend of mine bought the WoW leveling guide, everything there could be found in Google.
You're not paying for new information, you're paying for someone to spreadsheet the same information you already have and draw pretty mspaint graphs. THAT'S what you consider when you buy a guide, if they try to sell you anything else it's misleading and, therefore, untrustworthy.

By far the easiest way to maximize your ISK/hour is to enter into a partnership with other players. Once you are part of a solid community, you can begin to trust each other and invest in larger items like blueprints, useful but expensive ships, perhaps a control tower or two.
Another advantage of being in a community (corp/guild/whatever,) is that your gaming becomes social. You tend to play more often and seek the advice of more experienced players before forming your own opinions on what to train for.
Back on topic. Dont ever buy anything on the internet!
Some of these "guide sites" simply appear to offer a PDF, Word-file or similar. Do not be tempted to buy ISK for real currency (it's not worth it and helps promote dubious behavior.)
In short. There is nothing in any guide that you cannot learn for free by joining the right group of players.

Firstly, you're in Honourable Templum of Alcedonia! so ratting in insmother or wherever you guys are is a start. Faction spawns give some decent isk.
Go to one of your 5/5 systems and run the ca's/cs's Find a machariel bpc in one of the cs's and sell it for monies or any of the other bits that drop in them.
Run missions for your research agents so that you get a steady RP build up then everytime you go back to empire sell the datacores and get monies.
go PVPing! seriously! go break some russian ships, take their mods then salvage their wrecks.
Moon goo, if you can get it or reactions sell pretty well. This works even better if you can get people to fuel towers and move stuff around for you without them knowing the value in what they're doing. then you get to pay them a pittence and laugh all the way to the bank.
go to jita, buy stuff, take it to C-J sell it for more than you bought it + your time is worth.
lvl 4 missions
invention
ship production
Watching the political landscape and selling items in both sides staging areas.
someone said mineral prices were on their way back up so I guess mining.
mission arcs
cosmos missions
sitting in the old cosmos sites and farming the needed items then selling them on contract.
any number of contract scams
camping 0.0 entry points and ransoming any indy ships you spot
WH space
Take noobs out pvping and charge them for the privalidge
God there are so many ways to make money in eve buying a guide is utterly pointless. But that's eve, ccp gave us the playground, we make the games. Use your imagination mate :)
I'm just way too lazy to do any of these :( I should sort that out --

Someone did a review on one of the guides on You Tube.
As they were anti guide (or a moron), they made a point of scrolling through the entire PDF so if you happen to pause it at the right point you can see how worthless the tips are.
I suppose this must be my sig. I'll do something cool with it eventually. |
