Edited by: Yukiko Yoshida on 06/04/2010 21:28:52 I'm a miner on my main. I also rat in lowsec, at times. That is how I make money. I haul minerals from where I gather them to my main's HQ in Genesis. Lately, on a certain gate in caldari space, between where I rat/mine and where I sell, there is a character sitting on a gate 24/7 in a falcon.
They lock me every single time I go through the gate, but never ever shoot. I have them set to -10 in corp standings and my hauler is fully fitted to tank any sort of assault that someone might try.
What I find annoying, is that someone can sit an alt there, in an NPC corp, and with impunity threaten people via locking them and I can do exactly nothing in retaliation.
I want to wardec NPC corps for this reason, take the overly abused impunity away. Let me retaliate to protect my business and my assets.
Edit: The irony of posting this on an alt in an NPC corp is not lost on me, its also entirely intended.

But at the time you do pass through with that T2 BPO (or other cool thing in cargo) they will pop you on the other side...

So...how is this person who is locking you having any negative impact on you whatsoever? Locking someone does nothing to them. Locking and scanning does nothing to them.
If you really don't like it, you can suicide him just to blow up his expensive falcon. You don't need to wardec this guy.
Or if you really want to be fair, lock him back. You guys can sit there and have each other locked....

Man I love locking people in empire. You'd be surprised how often they freak out and shoot.
I know doing it in newbie systems makes me a bad person, but its just so much fun.

I find it a bit silly, backstory wise, that npc corps tolerate criminals in their ranks. Anyone doing piracy should be kicked out of npc corp and become an outcast (free game for anyone). Their only way out would be to join a pc corp ASAP... If anyone want to do piracy, they should suffer the consequence.
Of course, i doubt it would ever happen.

Uhhh, if they pirate enough and become true pirates (< -5.0) then they are free game for anyone. Perhaps you should learn how the game is played before you comment on game mechanics you know nothing about.

Good old flames, so easy to get them. I'm well aware of that, and i'm just as aware how lots of players do to never fall that low yet keep on ganking/pirating. The system is just too lenient on them.

What if he sits there 23/7 and locks you, but he has one of those doodads that lets him lock without you knowing he's locked you.
Also locking is not a threat and needs no retaliation.

Do what I do.
In local, thank them for scanning you and deciding you have nothing of value. Then ask if they would kindly save all their fellow suicide gankers the trouble of scanning you by passing on the information that you carry nothing of value.
Sadly no one has yet responded to my friendly thanks for a job well done. Personally, I think they have low self esteem.
Meh, whatever. --Vel

I'd suggest respond in kind. Lock them right back. And then, take it one step further, and bump them around. Suggest ship-sex. Invite them to conversations. Invite others to the party. Comment on what's on the billboard as if it's TV.

Try backpedaling more. Oh, so then by your logic you are also against people regaining their NPC corp standings repeatedly and CCP should remove the level 1 q0 agents available to everyone rule? Speaking of being too lenient how about we just kick everyone out of NPC corps after 3 months.

If the person gets on your nerves, do the following:
1) Buy a battleship of your choice. Fit it with high damage t1 weapons that provide a good alpha strike. (Large smartbombs can be fun.) Group the weapons so all can be activated by pressing F1 for example.
2) Platinum insure ship.
3) When you see the person in his/her probe that annoys you, steer your battleship into optimal and lock the person. (With smartbombs no lock required)
4) Press F1 and enjoy.

Won't work if they're close enough to the gate, can't activate smartbombs within 5km of a gate or station, which happens to be the range of a large smartbomb.

You are putting a lot of words in my mouth there. Preying on other players (the non pvp crowd) is just too easy and safe, once you know the rules you can do it with near impunity. The gameplay is quite broken in that regard.

Assuming this falcon char is scanning for a possible future gank, why is he not using a passive targetter so as not to tip you off? 'Course he could be just dumb.
Also: There are other reasons than suicide ganks to scan haulers. Finding out trade routes without making an effort or doing your own research for one. Just saying.

Ohhhh if only you could wardec oh I don't know the Amarr Empire Ministry of War.
Sure there are a lot of noobs out there under that corp but... yeah I'd like to see the NPC navy whip your ass with a gigantic blob such as only an empire can field.

there is always someone who doesn't want the game to evolve.
