Hello OOPE,
I was looking for opinions/experiences from you guys on the Asus line of laptops.
I need to get a new one very soon and was looking at their line as i have heard various good reports on value for money in terms of specs.
Unfortunately RL circumstances prevent me from getting a desktop(else i would), i also need to use it for work (mobile ish although battery life will not be an issue), however i want to have a sporting chance of playing some newer games on it other than Eve (Hooray, i can say this now )
Also, how good is their reliability and after sales stuff?
I was half considering the Asus G73JH-A1/A2 so any feedback on that particular model would be great too.
Many thanks OOPE
Cheers!

great construction quality and good waranty.
Other recommendations: Dell (for warranty), XPS (lots of them fall off trucks and right on top of ebay)

Asus are awesome, in my opinion. I've never had a piece of their hardware cause me issues yet.
Dell are also good for laptops, however avoid their desktops like the plague unless you want to pay a little over the top for a bulletproof XPS system.
Also, take a look at Rock for laptops. They produce a really solid line of laptops that might interest you.

Go to http://outlet.dell.com and order a "previously ordered new" laptop. You'll get a few hundred dollars off and a never been used laptop for cheaper than buying it "new". They're basically laptops people ordered then cancelled. I ordered one from there 3 years ago and still works great. I use it for gaming and programming when I take public transportation to work.
They had some alienware laptops a little earlier that were around $1200 that were awesome, but they're all gone now. There's quite a few XPS that would play a lot of games up there for under $1k

Biggest problem with their desktops is they skimp on the power supplies. But yeah, if you're not going to get one of their gaming systems (like the XPS systems) avoid getting one of their desktops.

Almost got the g73 myself, but they were all sold out every where I looked for a reasonable price. Did my research and they are one of the best combinations of performance and price you will find.
Ended up shelling out more for a good desktop though, wanted to spoil myself. ! |

Thank you all for the feedback on this, nice one!
Looks like i will go with the G73 after all. Managed to locate an A1 new. Just trying to take care of the import stuff now, hopefully shouldn't take too long.
Again, thank you all.
Cheers!
