Hey, was just wondering other day why the cloaking effect from trinity was removed (for anyone who don't remember it link) and can we have it back?
Always found it more impressive to watch my ship's cloak travel along the length of my ship instead of a direct fade.
On a side note, I can only see two reasons why it was removed. Performance and/or realism, if its the latter, I feel visual quality is sometimes better then realism .

I was sad to see it go too, but they got lazy and gave us the WH jump effect for everything, except cloaking they just removed the bubble effect from it ;)

I liked that effect. Though I agree if it's decided that it is to be reintroduced make it start from the front when de-cloaking. ______________________________

2. It was unrealistic, and it looked like crap.

I never liked it all that much as a cloaking effect. Though it could be used to good effect for a cyno animation. --------

reasions why i belive it was removed.
1 old graphics , the dev team wanted an update
2 time, didnt use a watch but in the vid you linked it took between 3-5 seconds for the ship to cloak from one side to the other , froma game stand point i could still theoreticaly shoot you untill the last part of the ship disapeared , with the new system the ship mearly blinks out.
that said it would be nice if the cloak was more than just a fade out, maybe like in starcraft where certain sections fade out faster than others or like in predator how it sort of sweaps over them

This is irrelevant, it's only graphical on your side. Actually the old cloak was more correct than the new one in this aspect. Someone else can actually see the ship several seconds after it appears cloaked on your side as it is today. However I don't think they can lock you, even though they can still see you.
This warrants some caution as you might give away your warp vector if you start warp right after you think you are cloaked but still visible to everyone else.
Personally I liked that cloak, it looked cool and is not unrealistic as some say (I mean who today have any experience from cloaking to state if it's realistic or not?) Say for example that the cloaking equipment eats a lot of power at the moment it activates, in that case it's smart to activate segments one and one instead of all at once avoid a power surge.

ya saying that something is irrelevant really show you know what your talking about. and if im correct the OP was why did they do it , untill a CCP member says otherwise its a possible reasion why they did it

Just take an alt and look at your ship cloaking. As soon as you press the cloak button, check the alts screen and see if the ship actually disappeared. You will notice that it takes several seconds before the ship disappears, even though it LOOKS cloaked on your main screen. Many things in eve are purely visual and what you see on your screen doesn't have to be what someone else see on their screen.
The only thing I want to say is that the cloaking effect on your side is irrelevant as the time it takes for the ship to disappear server side isn't related to it.

You would have if you had read his post before replying to it.
Just saying....
I liked the scroll over effect, but really my favorite cloaking effect was the original one. Maybe its nostalgia and memory, but I swear it looked better then the current one.
