Does it have to do with accessibility to the Serpentis LP store?

It's very difficult to farm the missions for LP, yes.

One hypothesis I heard was that if everyone knew something was overpowered, there'd be a rush of to meet that demand. There's lots of hype over the Dramiel... not so much about the Daredevil. Both are still good - and in some ways the Daredevil counters the Dramiel.

difference is I've seen a daredevil in the hands of the right pilot take down a reasonable (i.e. not terrible but not great) fit proteus solo.

Interesting theories, it seems there is more behind this than I suspected. |

I would be more scared of a dramiel than a daredevil.
IIRC it has something to do with dramiel bpcs being way easier to farm.

Edited by: Omara Otawan on 11/04/2010 20:21:07 Pretty simple actually, its the better combat frigate.
Just wait what the next whine after the dramiel whine will be...

A good daredevil pilot is way more dangerous to another frigate pilot than a good dramiel pilot.
The daredevil is easier to blob though, so maybe thats the reason people dont hate it so much.

For a given amount of "not terrible", so could a Taranis (and Dramael naturally).
But it is a very very good frig - from what I hear it's just harder to farm, which is also the reason why the Vigilant is so absurdly overpriced.

A more realistic reason is they are pricier to fit, hence the entry level barrier is lower and thus demand is higher.
Cynabal can work with plain t2 fittings reasonably well, Dramiel needs a 20mill deadspace AB at most, while Daredevil and Vigilant really shine with FN webs and possibly faction magstabs which mean additional 50-150mill.

Some ships are well suited to fight ships larger than themselves. Daredevil is one of these. It can be murder on cruisers and larger.
Once it gets under the guns and picks off the drones there's really nothing the cruiser / battle cruiser pilot can do but watch it go round and round chewing through their defenses.
Big ships must have web and neut to take one on.

Big ships must have a web and neut not to be failboats when it comes to solo flying. ECM drones are a OK alternative though.
You may have noticed post QR how people avoid ships which can't really counter small stuff.

Post QR I used to go small ship fishing in a dual web dual neut Hurricane just to teach the little pesky buggers a lesson.
I am guessing you used some good dual 220MM ACs for that :P
