Not sure where to post this, but i know you guys can probably help me.
So here's the issue. I'm trying to install EVE on my laptop so i can get on at school, cuz i'm freaking bored and i have market transactions and stuff to build. You know, a freaking corporation to run.
Anyway, i have two partitions on my drive. C is about 10GB, where D has the rest of the 70. I can tell the installer to install to a custom location (IE: D:\Program Files...) BUT, it won't let me change where it temporarily stores the downloaded information!! It will keep trying to download to C where there isn't enough space.
Anyway to change this?! i've tried the "offline installer" and it unpacks default to C with no option to change the location.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Download and install 7-zip you can get it here http://www.7-zip.org/ you will want to get the 32-bit version.
Next download the eve "offline installer".
Then open 7-zip, locate and extract the installer to the location of your choice. (alternatively right click on the "offline installer" and select 7-zip > extract files...)
Proceed with the installation of the Client.

I have a similar disk setup, a 10G "windows" drive with a 40+G embedded at a mount point via disk manager. I get blocked for the same reason, the EO or 7z installer cannot recognize the correct disk's available space.
I used a Knoppix CD to take apart the installer -- which is a packaged 7z archive plus pocket uncompression exe. The linux version of 7-zip is named '7z', and it was a recent Knoppix CD.
When I run 7z to check the 7z archive after unpacking the first layer, it reports all the files in the archive as fine. I have two choices atm, either reboot to windows and try the pocket exe or just finish it in linux. It looks like I can directly expand the archive where I want it targeted, and continue using linux to fix things up --- an ability that is worth learning, windows is rarely sophisticated. ________________________________________________ If there's no air in space, how come my ships on fire? |
