Just did all the escalations, all parts of hired gun, got a few DG spawns netting about 200 mill in loot. Got to the last part with the Dread Pith Protagonist (End Boss) which can drop Pith A-Type Loot with possible billion isk in dropped mods.
Spent 2-3 days doing the escalations. One or two a day.
He dropped nothing, no tags, no crappy ammo, no loot, no overseer effects, no mods, just an empty wreck.
This normal or bug? I have never had an escalation that doesn't even drop a single thing or an empty wreck.

I've seen this happen down in Blood Raider land.
Four escalations, 6 lost ships between 4 people and the 20m bounty boss at the end drops an empty wreck.
Just bad luck.

It happens, loot is random. The escalations take less than an hour each so it sounds like you're exagerating the effort involved. Also there's no Pith A-type loot over 550mil if my memory serves me right.
Just keep at it and you'll hit some jackpots sooner or later.

Not realy exagerating when you do it over 2-3 days, through hostile space, across 3 regions playing a few hrs a day. Also more than one 400+ mill faction mod can drop so its possible to get 1+ bill which I have before from this escalation.
Just found it strange to get an empty wreck.

Have had this several times now with Sansha Vigil escalations, a 4/10 that starts in high-sec. The last escalation is always in low-sec with lots of web towers and such. Spend all that time killing them and the spawns, only to then slowly grind away at the Fortress itself. When it hits structure a commander BS spawn appears.
Hasn't dropped anything worth mentioning in the 3-4 times I've done it. IIRC it should be able to drop Centum C-Type loot, but I haven't seen it yet.
I have no problem with the possibility being there for not dropping anything shiny, but the odds should be a little better IMO.

Edited by: JeChecke on 17/04/2010 13:08:09 I have run sansha fortress escalations 2 time, get 2b the first time, 500M the second. I've also run the angel fortress escalations, and the overseer wreck was empty. It's all luck.

did this twice and got nothing, plus many other plexes where i got crappy loot under 100 mill incl the 10/10 plex.
Plexing can be pretty crappy.
Go to hisec and run missions for isk and go back to o.o to play.

I do quite a few plex's a week and have had a lot of nice drops best is around 1.3B from 3 mods. Only end boss i've encountered to drop no loot, not even oversear's effects, is the Pith protagonist in Hired Gun. And from the other pilots i know to run this escalation i don't know 1 who has not had an empty wreck from this Boss. I know drops are random, but even with no loot drop i thought oversears affects were a given? Begining to wonder if this escalation is bugged?

Loot is chance based. You can find the jackpot or you can find nothing. And to say you get nothing, is wrong. At least you get the bounty from the rats. I found a 1.2 Mrd item in a 6/10 some weeks ago and found nothing in the last 2 Escaltion. But that's the thrill IMO. Please let this mechanic untouched CCP.

Random is random.
At least you got the escalation. The last 8 of these I've done have not escalated. Risk vs. reward: This is one of the easiest null sec plexes.
As to missioning vs. plexing. I've made about 3 times as much ISK in the last two months in null sec as the previous year doing missions in high sec. Maybe I've just been lucky. Plus it's not soul-crushingly boring.

If the wreck was empty, u didn't get the "real" boss, it's pretty much the same as the the overseers in worlds collide: they either leave a sansha/angel large wreck or something alike, or they have an overseer wreck. The Protagonist wreck was a normal deadspace rat wreck, therefor (usually) no loot or crap loot. If u see an overseer wreck, there is always something in it and the dice start rolling for "da good stuff"

The end boss is the dread Protagonist.

You've been very lucky then. i spent a year plexing in nullsec and made less than i have made in 2 months missioning in hisec. Random is random, but i think doing lots of plexes and always getting crap or no loot is pretty stupid. chances should increase the more you plex provided you didnt get loot.

The rat's name is always the same - Dread Pith Protagonist, but it can leave behind two different types of wreck: an overseer wreck or a normal wreck. Not sure if u can see the type when hovering ur mouse over it, but u definitely see the wreck type on ur directional scanner.
